Movie star Andy Garcia is hoping to release an album after building his musical portfolio with the legendary Cuban musician he portrayed in 2000 movie For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story.

Sandoval was commissioned to compose a score for Garcia's new film, At Middleton, and the two old friends found time to record new material together, including a track that will featured on the movie's DVD release.

Garcia says, "We've recorded together a lot. I play in his big band and he sits in with my orchestra. We actually wrote a song for the movie that will be on the DVD special features...

Jon Voight has replaced Sir Anthony Hopkins in Andy Garcia's new Ernest Hemingway biopic.

Garcia announced the casting change while promoting his new film At Middleton earlier this week (beg27Jan14), stating, "Mr. Hopkins is no longer playing Hemingway."

Garcia will play Gregorio Fuentes, the boat captain who inspired the title character in his book The Old Man & The Sea, and he admits Hopkins' decision to quit the project has not dampened his enthusiasm for the film, titled Hemingway & Fuentes.

He tells WENN, "We've restored a 1930s wheeler boat, which is a replica of Hemingway's Pilar....

Garcia has composed music for and performed on soundtracks to films "The Lost City", "Ocean's Twelve" and "The Disappearance of Garcia Lorca", and Bridges, who has released albums via his website, wowed movie fans with his musical skills as a grizzled country star in "Crazy Heart".

Anthony Hopkins is to play revered author and adventurer Ernest Hemingway in a new movie, directed by Andy Garcia.

The Welsh actor, who has played real-life figures in Nixon, Surviving Picasso, Amistad and The World's Fastest Indian, will play Hemingway in independent movie Hemingway & Fuentes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Actor Andy Garcia is facing a $2.5 million lawsuit for allegedly mimicking a Californian man's life in his 2005 movie The Lost City. Garcia - who directed and starred in the movie - has been named in a lawsuit filed at Los Angeles Superior Court by Carole Lee Shulman, reports

Shulman claims Garcia stole her husband Eddie "Shu" Shulman's identity in the movie which follows a Cuban nightclub owner as he flees the country's oppressive regime for New York.

She is suing Garcia for "research without permission and marketing of life's events for profit without consent".

Gloria Estefan is paying tribute to the sounds and spirit of her native Cuba on her next album and she has invited countrymen like actor Andy Garcia and trumpet great Arturo Sandoval to join her.

The Florida-based singer, who left Cuba as a child and has become a fierce and vocal opponent of her homeland's dictator Fidel Castro, has recorded her new album, 90 Milas, in her native tongue.
