Incredible Hulk star Lou Ferrigno grew up with Superman dream

January 27th, 2014 3:10am EST
Lou Ferrigno
TV's former The Incredible Hulk Lou Ferrigno dreamed of becoming Superman as a kid and once jumped off the roof of his home, believing he could fly like the Man of Steel.

The bodybuilder-turned-actor admits he was a huge comic book fan as a child, and Superman was his hero.

In a new interview for Oprah Winfrey's Where Are They Now? show he recalls, "When I used to watch the Superman TV series with George Reeves, I really thought that Superman was real.

"I jumped off the second storey at my apartment; I had a red blanket, pretending I was Superman. When I hit the concrete, that was the en...

'The Celebrity Apprentice' Finale - Arsenio Hall Takes The Title
Last week on Celebrity Apprentice: Clay Aiken and Arsenio Hall, the Final Two, have been tasked with having to produce, host, and sell tickets to a celebrity charity event. They’ll be responsible for all aspects of the show, including creating a thirty second charity awareness ad, and producing a variety show to entertain their guests. They themselves will be the entertainment at their show. This week; the live finale.

Donald Trump lets us know that this is an important night – so important, that he’ll need the fastest car and driver possible to get to the show at the American Museum of Na...

'The Celebrity Apprentice' – The Final Task Ends On A Cliffhanger

May 14th, 2012 6:03pm EDT
Clay Aiken, Arsenio Hall Advance to Finale
Previously, on Celebrity Apprentice: the Final Five was whittled down to four, when Teresa Giudice project managed her team’s assignment to a loss. But the Donald was not finished yet; he brought in last season’s Celebrity Apprentice winner John Rich, and runner up Marlee Matlin, to interview Arsenio Hall, Aubrey O’Day, Clay Aiken and Lisa Lampanelli. Based on John and Marlee’s recommendations, he fired Lisa. This week, we’ll find out the second person chopped, and have one last challenge. Next week, the winner will be chosen. Ready?

'The Celebrity Apprentice' – Paul Brain Schemes And Lou Turns (The Air) Blue

April 9th, 2012 12:16pm EDT
The Celebrity Apprentice
Last week’s double episode cost the teams Debbie Gibson and Dee Snider, and saw Aubrey O’Day walk out after an overwrought Board Room blowout between Aubrey and Arsenio Hall.

The drama continues this week, as we return to the Board Room aftermath. Arsenio, still shaking with anger and emotion, doesn’t know if he could handle Aubrey’s return. Lisa Lampanelli and Penn Jillette, returning from the Board Room, are shocked to hear about Aubrey as well. Lisa thinks the team should be worried – if Aubrey stays away, she feels their team has no chance.

Arsenio explains that he was over the top in...

'The Celebrity Apprentice' Recap: Pop Goes Debbie Gibson And Dee Snider While Aubrey O'Day Walks

April 2nd, 2012 9:21pm EDT
The Celebrity Apprentice
During an extended three hour episode, I watched the Celebrity Apprentice last night. And I only fell asleep twice! Here’s what happened:

Last week: The teams put together parties to launch a new line of mock tail drinks. The men of Unanimous won the challenge with their beach party, and the women of Forte suffered the loss of Patricia Velasquez, who was fired. Aubrey cried crocodile tears, as she had hoped Dayana Mendoza would be the one to leave. Clay Aiken brought checks worth $50,000.00 to the National Inclusion project.

This week, the teams meet up at Trump Towers with Donald Trump a...

'The Celebrity Apprentice' Recap – Do You Not Like Venezuela?

March 26th, 2012 5:30pm EDT
The Celebrity Apprentice
Last week, on Celebrity Apprentice: The teams were tasked with making a viral video. Unanimous’ male team was led by Lou Ferrigno, and the female Forte team by Tia Carrere. The men’s earlier frustration with Lou was forgotten when Clay Aiken and Arsenio Hall pointed out that Penn Jillette’s brainstorming style was not supportive of Lou’s management. Penn suddenly found himself being put forward as a possible target for firing. But the women of Forte weren’t happy either, and Tia, as Project Manager, took responsibility and sacrificed herself for her team when they lost the challenge.

Lou Ferrigno Donates $50,000 To Girl Suffering From Muscular Dystrophy

March 22nd, 2012 12:23pm EDT
Lou Ferrigno
Kind-hearted Lou Ferrigno had a surprise in store for a young girl suffering from muscular dystrophy - he has handed her his $50,000 earnings from The Celebrity Apprentice.

The hearing-impaired Incredible Hulk star won the money for his charity Muscular Dystrophy Association, but donated the full amount to Abbey Umali after he was moved by her story.

The bodybuilding star fought back tears as he heard of her plight, as it brought back memories of his own painful upbringing.

He said on the show, "I'm giving $50,000 that I won from my charity to Abbey... Close to birth...I lost like 80 ...

'Celebrity Apprentice' – Lou Gives 120% While Aubrey Gives Tia Career Advice

March 19th, 2012 5:07pm EDT
Celebrity Apprentice
Last week, on The Celebrity Apprentice, the women’s FORTE team won the challenge, and the men of UNANIMOUS got gut punched when not one, but TWO of their team were fired. Both Adam Carolla, Project Manager, and Michael Andretti hit the road when Trump decreed that Adam’s biggest failing was not showcasing Michael’s brand power in a challenge revolving around cars. Oh, and for not naming names in the boardroom, naughty Adam. But the ladies had a few tussles that may impact the solidarity of their group before too long. Patricia Velasquez interviewed that the ‘back stabbing and lies’ must sto...

'Celebrity Apprentice' Recap – 'Nice Shot, Oswald' - A Lesson Is Taught

March 12th, 2012 3:57pm EDT
The Celebrity Apprentice
Last week, the teams designed a ‘living window display’ for Ivanka Trump’s new fashion collection. The ladies team, FORTE, won, although the men of UNANIMOUS had a strong display and great branding ideas. George Takei took one for the team, although Lou Ferrigno was once again put forward as a weak link. The men feel that Lou presents himself as a go getter offering 110% when in the Board Room, but when actually working on a challenge, only offers ideas that center around his being the Hulk.

Dayana Mendoza had been Project Manager for FORTE, so she received the $20,000.00 donation for her...

'The Celebrity Apprentice' Recap- Oh My! George Takei Falls On His Own Sword

March 5th, 2012 2:04pm EST
Celebrity Apprentice
Last week, the Celebrities worked a Medieval Times angle. Lou Ferrigno hulked out when Penn Jillette mentioned his lack of focus, but it was Victoria Gotti who got the axe. Can the ladies of Forte pull it together, now that Victoria is gone, or will the men of Unanimous carry on their winning streak?

After the firing, Lisa Lampanelli swore she’d never Project Manage again, but she’s more determined than ever that Forte kick some Unanimous butt. Penn Jillette had the pleasure to present his team’s win of $40,000.00 to Linda Smith for his charity “Opportunity Village”.

This week, Ivanka Tru...

'The Celebrity Apprentice' Episode 2 – There's No Crying In Baseball Or Apprentice!

February 27th, 2012 3:13pm EST
Last week, the celebs pushed ‘sammiches,’ making a record profit donation for any first week of the series, when American Chopper star Paul Teutel Sr. slightly overcharged one customer to the tune of $305,000. The men of Unanimous rocked, and walked, leaving the ladies in their dust. Although none of the women on Team Forte seemed to like Victoria Gotti’s attitude, they, and even The Donald, were not about to get on the Mob Princess’ bad side. So they axed the quietly classy, and original Supermodel Cheryl Tiegs. Looks like the ground rules have been laid; win by any means, and don’t worry...

'The Celebrity Apprentice' Premiere Recap - Making Cheryl Tiegs Cry

February 20th, 2012 3:28pm EST
Celebrity Apprentice Premiere
“18 celebrities, 18 egos – all fighting to become The Celebrity Apprentice” Yep, that’s our Donald, rallying the troops. As the celebs gather, it’s hard not to share in Trump’s vision of a world ruled by his chosen few, those ‘used to be’ and ‘almost were’ C and D list celebrities who, armed only with smartphones, can strong arm their wealthy friends and fans into financially backing their charities.

What could be more frightening than Trump’s bombastic boasting? Each of the celebrities declaring their intention to win, while tiny mafia princess Victoria Gotti bluntly says “you have to wa...

September 28th, 2011 9:07pm EDT
Lou Ferrigno
Michael Jackson's longtime friend and fitness guru Lou Ferrigno has challenged testimony from the opening day of Dr. Conrad Murray's manslaughter trial in Los Angeles, which suggested the King of Pop was struggling with poor health in the weeks leading up to his 2009 death.

The former Incredible Hulk star has been watching the court proceedings with interest and he was baffled when another Jackson associate, choreographer Kenny Ortega, took the stand on Tuesday and told jurors the pop superstar was so sick at rehearsals two weeks before his death that he sent an email to his concert promot...

Lou Ferrigno To Hunt Illegal Immigrants In Arizona

November 18th, 2010 8:06am EST
Lou Ferrigno
Arizona state immigration enforcers have The Incredible Hulk on their side - TV's green monster Lou Ferrigno has signed up to check the papers of suspected illegal residents.

Officials in Arizona have introduced controversial new immigration rules, which give cops the power to arrest and detain anyone they believe does not have the right to live and work in the state.

And despite widespread outrage at the new law, actor Ferrigno - who played the terrifying TV hulk in the 1970s - is one of 56 volunteers sworn in by the sheriff's office to help cops seek out illegals, according to Reuters...

It has now been revealed that the Hulk is set for another outing in a new TV show, which is currently in deve...

Lou Ferrigno Considers Selling Memorabilia

June 18th, 2008 5:30pm EDT
Lou Ferrigno
Original Hulk Lou Ferrigno is planning to cash in on the 70s TV show's memorabilia, which has been gathering dust in his attic.

The 56-year-old bodybuilder collected everything available when he appeared as The Incredible Hulk on TV from 1978 to 1982 and, with the success of the latest movie adaptation, he feels sure it's time to sell up.

Ferrigno, who appears briefly as a security guard in the new Hulk movie and gives the angry green giant his voice in the film, says, "I think it might be time to sell it. I have the largest collection of Hulk memorabilia in the world - everything...

Original Hulk Finally Gets To Roar

June 18th, 2008 10:48am EDT
Lou Ferrigno
The original TV Hulk Lou Ferrigno is a huge part of the latest film about the mean green giant - he provided the grunts and roars for Edward Norton's angry alter-ego.

Ferrigno, who also plays a pizza-loving security guard in the new blockbuster, never got the chance to give The Hulk a voice in the original 1970s TV series or the much-maligned 2003 movie adaptation but he's more than making up for it now.

The 56-year-old bodybuilder says, "The (original) growl was done by Ted Cassidy, who played Lurch on The Addams Family."

Ferrigno's voice track was one of the last things to ...

'The Incredible Hulk' Indeed Jacked Up on CGI Roids

June 13th, 2008 9:53am EDT
Incredible Hulk
(Hollywoodchicago.com) – Technology has done double-edged service and disservice to the legendary Hulk superhero character from Stan Lee’s Marvel Comics.

In peering at the CGI-created ripped body of nothing remotely reminiscent of Edward Norton, the 2008 film iteration of “The Incredible Hulk” has a leg light years up on Lou Ferrigno’s character in the 1978 television series of the “The Incredible Hulk”. Then, Ferrigno only had the luxury of makeup. The rest was the real deal.

On the other hand, Ferrigno – who treats 2008 audiences in a gasping reveal when he appears in...
