Sidekicks Are Important On 'Monk'

August 4th, 2008 1:46pm EDT
Monk
When Adrian Monk is at his most vulnerable, he can be pitiful, selfish, heartbreaking, and vicious. He is also the sanest and most human, because his obsessive-compulsive traits are merely a footnote amongst the genuine fear and sorrow.

Take for example last Friday's "Monk" episode "Mr. Monk Gets Lotto Fever" when he is faced with the possible departure of his assistant Natalie. He sits with his new therapist and discusses how she will leave him, how everyone leaves him, reminding the audience of Sharona (a deeply missed presence for early "Monk" fans). Things are never simple for a c...

'Monk' Pays Tribute To Kamel, Introduces New Therapist

July 22nd, 2008 11:08am EDT
Monk
Get out some clean wipes, fresh bottled spring water, and detective caps - "Monk" is back for a seventh season! The last time the obsessive-compulsive hero was seen, he was running from the law in an intense two-part episode where Monk was framed for murder. Whether or not the show will get to this investigation quickly or draw it out another seven years is anyone's guess, but hopefully it will be the former.

First of all, it must be known...

Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award winner Shalhoub stars as the titular obsessive-compulsive detective in a series that has cleaned up as a ratings performer at USA since its premiere in 2002 and has cultivated a lo...
