Liam Gallagher: 'Idris Elba caused fight by messing up my hair'

June 5th, 2013 3:10am EDT
Liam Gallagher
British rocker Liam Gallagher has gone public with his side of the story following his clash with Idris Elba at the NME Awards in London in February (13), insisting the actor caused the altercation by messing up his hair.

The former Oasis frontman was said to have confronted The Wire star and snatched his woollen hat at the ceremony, but Gallagher maintains Elba was to blame for the bust-up.

He tells Britain's The Sun, "I didn't steal Idris' hat, or grab it. I don't go grabbing anyone. He messed my f**king hair up, so I pulled his hat off and booted it across the room, and that's it."

Five Fun Facts about 'Prometheus' Actor Idris Elba

June 7th, 2012 2:00pm EDT
Idris Elba - Five Fun Facts
Ridley Scott’s Prometheus comes out this Friday, reminding us of the buzz that surrounded his original Alien film back in 1979. Much like he did with that film, Scott has cast this science fiction piece with well-established actors including Academy Award winner Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce, and Michael Fassbender. Fans of the HBO series “The Wire” or the BBC series “Luther” will be pleased to see Idris Elba take on the role as the captain of Prometheus, giving us a good excuse to dig up five fun facts on the sexiest man to ever work at Dunder Mifflin.

1) A working actor since 1999, it was...

Trailer Talk: Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' Could Be This Summer's Next Big Blockbuster & More

June 4th, 2012 1:02pm EDT
Prometheus
Arriving in theaters this week are Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated sci-fi vehicle “Prometheus,” the silly computer animated sequel “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted,” the coming-of-age comedy “Lola Versus,” the indie time travel comedy “Safety Not Guaranteed,” the period piece drama “Bel Ami,” the family relationship dramedy “Peace, Love, & Misunderstanding,” and Todd Solondz’s drama “Dark Horse.”

Unfortunately my pick from last week, “Snow White and the Huntsman,” was plagued by bad acting, lackluster action scenes, and farfetched concepts even for a fairy tale. Not only was it diff...

Jack Davenport Takes Center Stage

January 30th, 2012 2:20pm EST
Smash
NBC's Smash is full of stars, but the one you don't know - that you should know - is British actor Jack Davenport.

In the ambitious new series (starting February 6 at 10), he plays Derek Wills, director of the Marilyn Monroe musical and not the kind of man who'll be winning a congeniality award anytime soon. Derek is complimentary one minute and cringeworthy the next. He's the kind of boss we'd all hate to have but whose results can't be dismissed either. It's a role where many actors could focus on the negative and make him a tyrannical, unlikeable mess. Davenport, however, brings ...

Bradley Cooper has been named the Sexiest Man Alive by People Magazine! The Hollywood hunk beat out other actors such as Ryan Gosling, Alec Baldwin and Idris Elba.

People writes, "Ladies, take note: this Georgetown grad can whip up dinner, take you for a spin on his motorcycle and whisper sweet nothings in French (he's fluent!). Just don't try convincing him what a catch he is."

Cooper, who sat down for an interview with the mag, says: "I think it's really cool that a guy who doesn't look like a model can have this. I think I'm a decent-looking guy. Sometimes I can look great, and other t...

'Luther' Recap: 'Series 2, Episode 4' (2.04)

October 19th, 2011 11:02pm EDT
Luther
Can you believe Luther is already over? Weren't we just talking about its beginning a month ago?

While trying to help Jenny cover up the death of Toby (the psychopathic grandson of Jenny's former madam Baba), Luther gets to deal with "twins with a shared psychosis" who look at their crimes as one big competitive game. I would complain here about how our hero cannot catch a break, but I'm not sure that he'd want one if he could get it. John Luther is not unlike an addict; he's consumed by the world he lives in and doesn't seem very interested in getting out.

Once again things star...

'Luther' Review: 'Series 2, Episode 2' (2.02)

October 5th, 2011 11:05pm EDT
Luther
This week's Luther is not unlike my least favorite episode of 24: a character gets tortured for an entire episode, and I spend that time feeling my stomach turn to the point where I don't ever want to watch it again.

DCI John Luther and his team are spending this week trying to rescue their colleague DS Ripley from the clutches of Cameron Pell, the killer they couldn't catch last time. While Ripley's anguished screams fill the background, Cameron demands attention that Luther has no intention of giving him, less Ripley become expendable and end up dead.

Schenk proves he's more t...

'Luther' 2.01 'Series 2, Episode 1' Review

Luther
The first series of Luther scared the hell out of me on at least one occasion. I couldn't help but wonder: could it top that? Should it? Well, series two was certainly going to try.

While Alice Morgan (the devilishly delightful Ruth Wilson) sits in a mental hospital, DCI John Luther (Emmy nominee Idris Elba) makes a half-hearted attempt to kill himself. You can't blame him, considering that he lost his wife at the hands of his close friend last series. When that doesn't work, he turns to an awkward friendship with his wife's lover Mark North (Paul McGann) and of course, to his job...

What Happened To The Emmy Nominations?!

July 14th, 2011 2:07pm EDT
Justified
What happened to this year's Emmy nominations? They're...actually pretty great.

I normally can't stand TV's big awards show; it seems like the same people and series get nominated all the time, with the occasional "why did that get nominated at all?" head-scratcher for variety. But the 2011 nominations were announced early Thursday morning, and while it's still a little puzzling (though let's not name names), there's a bevy of deserving names on that big list.

Here are some of my favorites:

Finally, some love for Justified: I still maintain that star Timothy Olyphant was robbed l...
