'Zero Hour' Cancelled

March 3rd, 2013 5:07pm EST
Zero Hour
Anthony Edwards' new TV series Zero Hour has been axed after just three episodes.

The former ER star made his big return to the small screen in the conspiracy thriller, in which he played the boss of a paranormal-enthusiast magazine who learns he must save the world.

But Zero Hour is destined to be short-lived after executives at ABC decided to cancel the show.

It debuted to 6.3 million viewers on St. Valentine's Day and scored a new record low as the least-watched premiere ever for a scripted series on ABC.

Prior to Zero Hour, Edwards had not appeared on a TV series since his star ...

Celebrities That Turn 50 In 2012
The year was 1962, John F. Kennedy was President of the United States and the cold war with Russia was in full swing as the world witnessed the Cuban Missile Crisis. Also in 1962, Marilyn Monroe died of a drug overdose at the age of 36 and Johnny Carson took over the duties of "The Tonight Show." Landmark movies that hit the big screen in '62 included "Lawrence of Arabia" and "To Kill a Mockingbird." The Academy Award winner for best picture that year was none other than "West Side Story."

We think you'll be surprised at how young many of today's popular celebrities look who were born in ...

Top Ten TV Goodbyes: Who Makes The List?

May 20th, 2011 5:00pm EDT
The Office Goodbye Michael
With Steve Carell leaving ‘The Office’ last month, it’s time to reflect on big goodbye episodes. I thought ‘The Office’ pulled off his departure well, although I’m not sure how I feel about the future of the show.

Here’s my top ten list of other shows that have successfully sent a character off in style. The rules: it is a true “goodbye” episode with a major character or star departing. If it happens off-screen, it doesn’t count. So that’s why I’m not including some obvious departures, such as Rhoda Morgenstern, Frank Burns, Coach Pantusso, etc.

Here they are. Do you agree?

10. T.R....

Kelly McGillis Weds

September 19th, 2010 10:21am EDT
Kelly McGillis
"Top Gun" star Kelly McGillis has married her longterm partner in a civil ceremony, just one year after admitting she is a lesbian.

The actress, who played Tom Cruise's love interest in the hit 1986 movie, came out last year and went public with her love for sales executive Melanie Leis.

The couple met in 2000, when the actress hired Leis as a bartender at her Florida restaurant, and the pair exchanged vows in a small courthouse ceremony in New Jersey on Wednesday.

It was 53-year-old McGillis' third walk down the aisle - she was married twice before and has two daughters with her second ...

82nd Oscar Nomination Reaction: The Snubs, Surprises & Who Shouldn't Have Been Nominated

February 2nd, 2010 3:34pm EST
82nd Oscar Surprises, Snubs & Who Shouldn
And there were ten.

It seems kind of strange to say that, right? Ten Best Picture nominees? We knew it was coming for nearly a year, but now it's actually there. In Black and white. Ten nominees. Strange.

After seeing the list, it's easy to see that the Academy might be on to something. Sure, it would have gotten the biggest blockbuster of all time with "Avatar" earning a Best Picture nomination if there were only five nominees, but it would have missed out on other massive hits like "The Blind Side", "Up", and "District 9".

Now, the telecast is going to get a lot more casual...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Saw VI,' 'Vampire's Assistant' & More

Cirque du Freak
Last Tuesday, I had a chance to see "Where the Wild Things Are." Visually the film is stunning; it integrates handheld camera shots in the appropriate moments to take viewers into the action. Jim Henson's Creature Shop makes the monsters of the movie look incredibly convincing, and the composite animation of their faces matches up well.

Spike Jonze and Dave Eggers do a fantastic job of stretching a 10 page children's book into a movie that doesn't distort the message of the book, but still gives audiences something fresh. One of the most fascinating aspects of the creatures the hero M...

The Most Underrated & Overrated TV Shows Of The 90s

May 2nd, 2008 9:43am EDT
Newsradio
The 1990s was the beginning of the end for network television. Program offerings grew rapidly in the last decade of the 20th century. Soon it became commonplace for a person to have 50-60 channels on their home set, paving the way for the present-day satellite and digital cable packages for 1,000 channels or more.

The 90s was the last decade that network bosses could depend on massive ratings from a nearly captive audience bereft of choices. There were certainly plenty of cable shows, but they barely made a dent in the numbers enjoyed by the networks at the time.

It was not unco...
