Miles Teller to play boxer Pazienza

February 4th, 2014 3:10am EST
Miles Teller
Footloose star Miles Teller is heading for the ring to portray boxer Vinny Pazienza in a new biopic.

Pazienza was almost killed in a 1991 car crash and amazed medics by defying the odds and returning to boxing a year later (92).

Aaron Eckhart will play the fighter's legendary trainer Kevin Rooney in the film, Bleed For This, which will be produced by Martin Scorsese.

Ironically, the Pazienza film is set for a cinema clash with another boxing movie about one of the fighter's greatest opponents, Roberto Duran, who will be portrayed by Edgar Ramírez.

Aaron Eckhart falls to his death in recurring dream

Aaron Eckhart
Actor Aaron Eckhart has a recurring dream, in which he falls to his death.

The Dark Knight star has suffered from night terrors ever since he fell off a cliff when he was 11 and almost died after plunging 60 feet (18 metres).

He says, "My brother was fishing and he was watching me fall... and the entire time I was falling, he said I was screaming, 'Why does it always happen to me?'

"My dad had to come down... and construct a makeshift stretcher and he got me up the hill."

Eckhart adds of his terrifying dreams, "I have recurring dreams where I'm falling... and I know I'm going to die and...

Aaron Eckhart pretended his child died

January 23rd, 2014 6:20pm EST
Aaron Eckhart
Aaron Eckhart once pretended his child had died to prepare for a film role.
The 45-year-old actor, who starred in the 'Rabbit Hole' alongside Nicole Kidman in 2010 in which a happy couple's life is turned upside down after their young son dies in an accident, attended support groups for grieving parents before shooting the movie and felt very "rude" after having an emotional breakdown when he spoke at a meeting.
Speaking to US radio host Howard Stern about his drastic acting tactic, he said: "It's rude. It's very sensitive to go in there, of course it is. I did the research. The gathering i...

Aaron Eckhart experienced rage after films

January 21st, 2014 10:20am EST
Aaron Eckhart
Aaron Eckhart stayed in a place of "rage" for years after playing villains in movies.
The 45-year-old actor took on the role of baddies in 'The Dark Knight' and 'The Black Dahlia' and decided not to play anymore evil characters until being offered the lead in 'I, Frankenstein' as the monster, who he says is actually more of a good guy.
He told the New York Post newspaper: "Acting those rough roles means research. I stayed in that place of animalistic rage for years.
"Life is not all black and white. It's complicated. We're complicated human beings. Even if Aaron's a good person, all that...

Olympus Has Fallen stars to reteam for sequel

October 29th, 2013 9:30pm EDT
Olympus Has Fallen
Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman have signed on for a sequel to surprise box office hit Olympus Has Fallen.

The thriller about a terrorist attack on the White House was a big hit at the global box office earlier this year (13), and the film's three stars are reteaming for a follow-up, set overseas.

However, director Antoine Fuqua won't be back for London Has Fallen.

Film Review: 'Olympus Has Fallen' A Solidly Crafted Thrill Ride

March 25th, 2013 6:15am EDT
Olympus Has Fallen
You'd have to be living under a rock to not know about Olympus Has Fallen, between its big-name cast and the huge promotional campaign that's been everywhere for the last month. This, though, is one of those rare cases where the hype is justified, because this is one of those big pictures - in every sense of the word - that we go to the movies for.

Olympus does not reinvent the action movie. It is not going to make you think too much about it after it's over. This isn't one of those flicks, but it doesn't claim to be one, either. It's a massive, violent, loud, unflinching one-man-wrecking-...

Jeremy Renner In 'Bourne Legacy' And 10 Other Franchise Recasts

The Bourne Legacy
Jeremy Renner isn't playing Jason Bourne, but he's taking over the Bourne franchise for Matt Damon in The Bourne Legacy. Renner's also not the first actor or actress to become the new face of a franchise. Here are 10 other franchise recasts:

Bruce Banner - Eric Bana/Edward Norton/Mark Ruffalo: Bana signed for three Hulk films, but was replaced by super fan Norton when Marvel re-acquired the rights. Norton re-wrote The Incredible Hulk and starred in a hit, but was unable to come to a deal when a role in The Avengers was available. Ruffalo filled in, and was given positive reviews.

Top 10 Batman Villains From Comics, TV And The Big Screen

July 19th, 2012 10:01pm EDT
The final installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, is upon us; and much like Heath Ledger's Joker the film's villains are once again posed to steal the show.

This time around we'll be reintroduced to three bad guys: Bane, (Tom Hardy), Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) and Ra's al Ghul (Liam Neeson). Both Bane and Catwoman made their first appearances in the original film run that Tim Burton started in the 1990s (and, fortunately, we'll be seeing a much different Bane in TDKR); and Ra's al Ghul returns to the series after his intro in Batman Begins.

But where do the...

She's Alive! Yvonne Strahovski Heats Up 'I, Frankenstein'

November 18th, 2011 3:28pm EST
Yvonne Strahovski
Even though "The Killer Elite" proved to be less than action movie royalty, that's not going to stop a woman with the hotness of Yvonne Strahovski's magnitude from burning up the silver screen on a regular basis.

Now that her run on NBC's "Chuck" is nearly up, Strahovski is looking to engage in more creative pursuits, like helping to patch together "I, Frankenstein."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Aussie blonde will co-star in the action-horror flick as "a scientist working on reanimating the dead and tricked into working for demons seeking to create an army of the undead." That...

Battle: Los Angeles movie review

March 11th, 2011 1:01pm EST
Aaron Eckhart in Battle: Los Angeles
On screen, the planet has been invaded by aliens countless times. In Battle: Los Angeles, director Jonathan Liebesman has created a war of the worlds that stands up to the best in the sub-genre with a killer cast including Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez.

Where Battle: Los Angeles works so well is in its spirit -- it is less a science fiction film and more of a classic war movie. Aaron Eckhart stars as a staff sergeant charged with taking a group of Marines into the alien attack battle zone of Los Angeles that is established early on as Earth’s last great hope for victory.

The film...

Aaron Eckhart Says He & Ne-Yo Got Along Fine On 'Battle: Los Angeles'

Aaron Eckhart
Aaron Eckhart has challenged his "Battle: Los Angeles" co-star Ne-Yo's version of events on the movie set, insisting the castmates were the best of friends.

The R&B star-turned-actor told ETOnline.com that he fell out with his method acting co-star because he couldn't understand why Eckhart stayed in character after the cameras stopped rolling.

The hitmaker plays one of actor's soldiers in the film and admits he struggled with the project at times as Eckhart insisted on continuing his onscreen persona even when they weren't working.

But Eckhart insists the singer/songwriter's account is ...

Ne-Yo Perplexed By Aaron Eckhart's Method Acting

March 9th, 2011 1:19pm EST
R&B star-turned-actor Ne-Yo fell out with his Battle: Los Angeles co-star Aaron Eckhart onset because the singer couldn't understand why the actor stayed in character after the cameras stopped rolling.

The So Sick hit-maker appears in the alien invasion movie as a soldier, opposite The Dark Knight star as a marine commander, and the pair nearly came to blows as Eckhart insisted on continuing his onscreen persona even when they weren't working.

And Ne-Yo admits he was baffled by the actor's behavior.

He tells ET Online, "I didn't understand the concept of staying in character the whole...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Tron: Legacy,' 'Yogi Bear,' & More

December 13th, 2010 9:29am EST
Tron Legacy
Last Thursday I saw “I Love You Philip Morris” starring Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor. This film, which is written and directed by Glenn Ficarra and Jon Requa, the team behind “Bad Santa,” advertises itself as a funny movie; however it leans more dramatic than expected. Most of the hilarious lines are spoiled by the trailer, so when you get a chance to see the whole product, you’ll find yourself a bit let down.

Both Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor are incredibly convincing as a gay couple from the manner of their speaking down to the body language that they use. Their story is one that pull...

25 Worst Movies Of 2009

November 27th, 2009 9:46am EST
The Body
Wow, there were some bad movies, like really bad, in 2009 but since we are optimists we like to think the good outnumbered the bad. We already discussed the good movies, and now we will feature the bad and ugly of 2009. Sometimes bad movies are entertaining enough to keep our attention for a few hours but sometimes the movies are so bad we induce vomiting to make us feel better.

Couples Retreat (25) had the cast and the budget to be a funny flick and it came out in the fourth quarter of 2009 when the best movies already came out. This movie was bad, not funny, and it might have marked th...

Aaron Eckhart Wants Two-Face For Next 'Batman' Movie

September 17th, 2009 12:19pm EDT
Aaron Eckhart Wants Two-Face
Aaron Eckhart has launched a new bid to convince director Christopher Nolan to revive Batman comic book character Two-Face for the sequel to The Dark Knight.

The actor, who portrayed Harvey Dent and his alter ego Two-Face, saw his character appear to be killed off in the 2008 blockbuster, and assumed he would not be a part of any future movie installments. However, Eckhart is now appealing to Nolan to consider bringing Two-Face back from the dead - mimicking a popular technique used on dramatic TV soap operas.

He says, "I think I've talked myself out of the job. I thought I'd died. ...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'The Informant,' 'Jennifer's Body' & More

September 14th, 2009 9:32am EDT
The Informant
Last week, the long weekend gave me a chance to see "District 9" in the movie theater. The film's science fiction elements took a back seat to its moral objective however, which was roughly to serve as an allegory for the Apartheid in South Africa.

Treatment of the aliens by humans, as a subhuman species really becomes emotionally jarring through the intense blood and gore that comprise the latter half of the movie. Audiences ultimately walk away from "District 9" disgusted by the inhumanity of the human race.

A nontraditional narrative, "District 9" is largely told through the use ...
