Celebrities That Turn 50 In 2014

January 2nd, 2014 11:00am EST
Sandra Bullock
Welcome to day two of 2014! Looking back in time 50 years ago, the year was 1964. Major events of that year included President Johnson being re-elected by a landslide over Barry Goldwater. The investigation of John F. Kennedy's assassination by the Warren Commission concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in the killing of the President. In the civil rights movement, three workers were murdered in Mississippi during the "Freedom Summer," and Anchorage, Alaska was hit by a massive earthquake.

In pop culture, Beatlemania had officially hit North America and on February 9 of that year, s...

Marvel Studios' "Phase Two" is well underway, with Iron Man 3 set to hit theaters next Friday and the first trailer for this fall's Thor: The Dark World making its debut early Tuesday morning.

The second wave of superhero flicks from the studio, owned by Disney, continues this November as the God of Thunder faces a new foe and has to recruit an unlikely ally.

'Thor' Sequel Casts Christopher Eccleston As Villain Malekith

August 2nd, 2012 12:37pm EDT
Christopher Eccleston
The villain the Thor sequel has finally been announced. Christopher Eccleston will play Malekith, the lord of the Dark Elves, in 2013's Thor: The Dark World.

The comic version of Malekith has connections with the Casket of Ancient Winters, an artifact the frost giants from the first film were very interested in.

Christopher Eccleston is known for his turn as Dr. Who in 2005. He left after a single season, claiming he didn't want to be typecast as the famous character.

Alan Taylor will be directing the film. If that name sounds familair, he's directed six episodes of HBO's Game of Thrones...

Review: 'Amelia' Displays Stunning Cinematography But Storyline Is Dry & Lacking

October 22nd, 2009 10:21am EDT
Amelia
The new Hilary Swank, Richard Gere led film, 'Amelia,' is a tale of two films. The cast is stellar and the cinematography is simply wonderful; unfortunately something is awry with the script since the film is entirely too long, dry and lacking when it comes to an interesting or an in depth storyline between the two lead characters of Amelia Earhart (played by Hilary Swank) and her husband/man behind the career, George Putnam (played by Richard Gere).

The film covers only the most basic portions of Earhart and Putnam's time together in saying that they were in an open marriage and busin...

Review: 'G.I. Joe: The Rise Of The Cobra' Is Pretty Damn Entertaining

August 7th, 2009 2:23pm EDT
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
When comparing "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" to that awful fellow Hasbro monstrosity "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," "Joe" plays out like a goddamn Federico Fellini film. Coherent plot, well established characters, discernible action sequences (Also: no racist robot caricatures, so there's that). It's always kind of fun to write a negative review - especially when the studio doesn't screen it for said writer, early. Unfortunately, for those purposes, "G.I. Joe" is kinda, sorta ... good (!?) This wasn't the way it was supposed to be. THIS WASN'T THE WAY IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE!

Jessica Simpson is in talks to appear in cult British sci-fi show Doctor Who, it has been reported. Bosses at the BBC are approaching A-list stars to cameo in the upcoming series in an attempt to add a touch of Hollywood glamor to the show and have contacted Jessica.

Sexy Jessica Biel is also rumored to be on TV bosses' hit list. Biel - who starred in Blade Trinity and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake - was recently linked to Justin Timberlake after she joined him on a snow-boarding holid...
