Eastwood Says 'Sniper' Doesn't Glorify War

March 17th, 2015 9:10am EDT
Clint Eastwood
Clint Eastwood told students during an appearance at Loyola Marymount University School of Film & TV that his highly successful 2014 film "American Sniper" carries an anti-war message.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, when asked if he felt the film glorified war, the actor/director replied: "I think it's nice for veterans, because it shows what they go through, and that life — and the wives and families of veterans. It has a great indication of the stresses they are under. And I think that all adds up to kind of an anti-war [message]."

"American Sniper" is based on the book by Navy SE...

Bitter
Bitterness. In today’s very politically correct cinematic landscape it’s a trait that seems to be missing from the characters in movies as of late. We’re not just talking about everyday angry guys who are out for revenge or vengeance, but rather folks that no matter what the situation they manage to find the down side and unapologetically live and breathe there. And while there have been a plethora of top lists for the meanest and nastiest characters movies have to offer, we’re here to fill the need for curmudgeons who are just plain bitter. Below is a list of the gents who fit the film...

'American Sniper' Wins Second Weekend In A Row, Will Become The
This proves it: last weekend's out-of-nowhere "American Sniper" rout (a $90 million rout, no less) was no fluke. The Clint Eastwood-directed, Bradley Cooper-starring film about sniper Chris Kyle has stomped all over the box office for a second weekend in a row, ending in the #1 spot for a second time.

This past weekend, "American Sniper" drew in $64.4 million. Not only is that only a 28% drop from last week's take (far smaller than average, indicating the film has fantastic staying power), but it's got "American Sniper" locked in to become the most successful war film of all time.

Fake Baby Is Latest Controversy Over 'American Sniper'

American Sniper
American Sniper by the numbers: $105 million opening weekend at the box office, six Oscar nominations and one fake baby.

Despite the greatness of Clint Eastwood's biopic of late U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, the very obvious movie mistake has distracted nearly every person who has seen the film.

During a scene when Kyle (Bradley Cooper) is at home with wife Taya (Sienna Miller), the two discuss the sniper's decision to go back to Iraq for another tour of duty and pass the baby -- an obvious prop -- back and forth.

There's no word on whether or not the move was intentional or not, but back i...

The documentarian used his right to free speech, which Kyle protected while fighting in four tours of duty in Iraq, to denounce those soldiers who spy and eliminate danger from above and protect their fellow troops on the ground, calling the...

This weekend marks the opening of our third "Expendables" film. Yes it leaked online weeks ago, but that's small potatoes.

No minor setback could hinder Sylvester Stallone's box office take, not when he's in a film so inundated with action stars that each one has roughly 4.2 seconds of screen time (at which point they have their choice of high-fiving Stallone, casually ignoring an explosion or shooting an intern dressed in SWAT gear, before being hurriedly shuffled off-screen).

It is our firm belief that "The Expendables" should continue for at least seven more sequels, enough that Stallo...
