'Togetherness' Recap: 'Family Day' & 'Handcuffs'

1/19/2015 9:02am EST
HBO expands its “indie” television brand/block with its latest comedy, Togetherness. Yes it is another one of those ‘middle-aged white people with problems’ shows, but helmed by the indie movie favorites Duplass brothers, the low-key comedy works.

The pilot episode does a fine job in introducing the characters and setting up the main conceit of the show. Brett and Michelle Pierson find themselves in a marital rut, with three young children and a stagnant sex life, but it’s all about to get messier when Brett’s long-time friend, Alex, and Michelle’s sister, Tina, move in with them indefinit...

Why Is 42 Year Old Amanda Peet Not Afraid To Go Topless

'Togetherness' Star Amanda Peet Comments On Topless Scenes In Up
HBO is about to unveil their latest creation ‘Togetherness’ this coming Sunday on January 11. It’s the latest comedy-drama by Jay and Mark Duplass and has been getting some very positive feedback from the experts reviewing it out there.

So what is the most talked about element of this new show that is getting everyone’s attention? Is it the wonderful and witty writing, or is the storytelling and buzz that this show is getting from the critics? Neither - it’s all about Amanda Peet (who is one of four co-stars) and her wonderful breasts. Apparently the 42 year old actress appears topless in ...

Trailer Talk: Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' Could Be This Summer's Next Big Blockbuster & More

6/4/2012 1:02pm EDT
Arriving in theaters this week are Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated sci-fi vehicle “Prometheus,” the silly computer animated sequel “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted,” the coming-of-age comedy “Lola Versus,” the indie time travel comedy “Safety Not Guaranteed,” the period piece drama “Bel Ami,” the family relationship dramedy “Peace, Love, & Misunderstanding,” and Todd Solondz’s drama “Dark Horse.”

Unfortunately my pick from last week, “Snow White and the Huntsman,” was plagued by bad acting, lackluster action scenes, and farfetched concepts even for a fairy tale. Not only was it diff...

Two Jews' Review 'Jeff Who Lives At Home' (Video)

3/17/2012 12:00pm EDT
Jeff Who Lives at Home
Two Jews on Film - By Joan Alperin-Schwartz: We are all connected... Everyone and Everything... Nothing is random... There are signs everywhere.

Don't believe it?

Apparently you haven't seen M. Night Shyamalan's film 'Signs'.

Jeff (Jason Segel) has seen it many, many times. In fact, he's obsessed with it. And so Jeff waits... for a sign. While waiting, Jeff spends his days smoking pot and hanging out in his mother's basement apartment where he lives.

Jeff knows he's destined for something. He's just not sure what that 'something is.' But that's about to change, after our slacker gets...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - '21 Jump Street,' 'Casa de mi Padre,' & More

Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies
I can’t believe it took me so long to finally watch 2009’s “Pirate Radio.” Set in the 60s, this period piece superbly captures the spirit, styles, and music of the era. The film tells a compelling story about a group of rebels challenging the system, who are portrayed by a fantastic cast of actors. It’s one of the few movies I’ve watched in recent months, that I had zero complaints about. My Grade: A+

Comedies are in abundance at the box office this week with the 1980s inspired action comedy “21 Jump Street,” the Will Ferrell western comedy “Casa de mi Padre,” the Jason Segel familial...
