'Dallas' Stars Pay Tribute To Larry Hagman

Larry Hagman's Dallas co-stars Linda Gray, Patrick Duffy, Victoria Principal and Ken Kercheval have paid tribute to the actor, who died from cancer complications on Friday.

Gray, who played Sue Ellen Ewing, the wife of Hagman's backstabbing oil magnate J.R. Ewing in the legendary TV drama, was with her friend and co-star when he died in a Texas hospital.

Tonight's the big night: after 21 years off the air, "Dallas" is returning to primetime on TNT. Fans are very excited about the series' return, but not everyone thought it would happen.

Dallas star Patrick Duffy was convinced the show was dead forever after reading a script for a planned movie version of the hit drama and branding it "atrocious".

Film bosses were planning to shoot a big-screen remake of the classic show with Brad Pitt and John Travolta in the lead roles, but the project was scrapped in 2010 when producers instead decided to revive the program on TV with surviving members of the original cast.

After they finished the 14th season, "Dallas" stars Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy wanted to write a spoof version of their hit primetime soap. But producers shot down their idea.

The legendary sex-and-scandal program ended in 1991 amid plummeting ratings, and later the two actors got together to discuss reviving it. They both favoured a comedy version of the Ewing family exploits based on 1980 spoof disaster movie "Airplane!," but Dallas bosses vetoed the project.

Actor Jesse Metcalfe was initially cautious to sign up for a starring role on the new Dallas revamp because he felt the TV industry was already flooded with too many series remakes.

Actress Annette Charles has passed away at the age of 63.

Charles died of complications from lung cancer in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

According to TMZ.com, she was diagnosed with the condition just a few months ago.

Patrick Duffy and TV detective Stacy Keach are set to become television's latest odd couple in a series of movies about two ageing gunfighters.
