Vin Diesel To Star In Big-Screen Remake Of 'Kojak'

December 18th, 2012 9:02am EST
Vin Diesel
New reports claim Vin Diesel is bringing legendary TV detective Kojak to the big screen.

In the 1970s late actor Telly Savalas portrayed the beloved New York cop on TV and in a number of TV movies that followed. The franchise may now be revitalized by "The Fast and The Furious" star.

"Skyfall" writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade will write the script, while Diesel will produce the project with his One Race Films partner Samantha Vincent for Universal Pictures, according to Deadline.com.

Ving Rhames played Kojak in a failed TV revamp in 2005, but the show was axed after just one season.

Brittany's Blog: This is my viewpoint, from the far end of the couch...and this weekend, I'm busy re-organizing my DVD collection. All 3,000-plus of them. A lot of great films fly under the radar, and as I'm moving a few of them around on my shelves, I thought I ought to share them with you.

In alphabetical order, here are ten of my favorite flicks that you probably didn't know existed, and links so you can pick them up for yourselves (which you should).

Christian Bale didn't have to visit the victims of the Colorado movie massacre, but that's exactly what he did on Tuesday. He didn't hold a press conference or alert the media; he simply visited the hospital, chatted with fans, and allowed people to take pictures with him.

The actor offered his condolences to those affected by the shootings that occurred during a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" last Friday. Twelve people died and dozens were i...

I have to admit that I didn't keep up with TNT's gritty Los Angeles cop drama as much as I would have liked; it fell victim to sharing Tuesday nights with three other shows on my watch list. Yet when I did find time to catch it, I was no less than impressed every time.

There's been talk about the show's TV-MA content (allegedly the reason that NBC axed it), but the real talking point should be the st...

Review: Despite A Couple Of Speed Bumps, 'Fast Five' Never Runs Out Of Gas!

April 29th, 2011 8:04pm EDT
Fast Five
I’m not going to describe differences between a [film] and a [movie], but truth is when settling in I let all artistic synapses which spark in my brain go, suspended reality, and allowed myself to suck in the fifth installment in one of UNIVERSAL’s most profitable franchises to date! How they pulled this off is beyond my imbecilic mind, but somehow a movie with a number five (5) at the end of its title has turned out to be the best entry in the series. Admittedly, my expectations were rather iffy coming in, but I honestly think I may have seen the biggest movie of the year. Well, maybe not ...

Review: Lin's 'Fast Five' Is Furiously Long

April 29th, 2011 11:00am EDT
Fast Five
When you hear that the runtime for “Fast Five” is 130 minutes, you’ll probably wonder why a mere 90, is not enough to unravel the fifth “Fast and the Furious” yarn. Ultimately, the reason is that the filmmakers tell an overly complex tale, in an effort to milk the actors, the chase sequences, and even the series itself for all they are worth.

Picking up where the fourth film left off, “Fast Five” starts with flashbacks to the sentencing of Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his transportation to captivity. En route, his pal Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) and his sister Mia (Jordana Brewster)...
