Check Out 'The James Dean Ultimate Collector's Edition,' Now Available

James Dean
James Dean starred in Elia Kazan's film version of "East of Eden" in 1955. As Cal Trask, the troubled son of a wealthy businessman, he perfectly captured the neurosis and jealousies of the character.

While Dean did have a tendency toward over-emoting, the cumulative effect of his performance ultimate proves rewarding to viewers and was recognized by the Academy with a posthumous Oscar nomination as Best Actor.

One can only speculate on what heights (or what depths) Dean may have hit had he not been killed in a car accident on the night of September 30, 1955. Combining the sensitivity of a...

James Dean
Movie icon James Dean's letters to his former girlfriend are to be auctioned off in a new sale.

The screen legend's notes to his ex-lover Barbara Glenn, who he dated for two years, contain personal anecdotes about feeling homesick during the filming of a movie and his criticisms of a Broadway show he appeared in.

In one of the three handwritten letters, Dean calls the stage version of The Immoralist "a piece of s**t."

The three letters, which are being sold by Glenn's son, filmmaker Keith Gordon, are to be auctioned off separately when they go under the hammer at Christie's in London i...

Hollywood Unwrapped: Must Not See TV

April 15th, 2011 8:43am EDT
Snooki
I have a question to ask all of the readers of this column. Do we really have Hollywood stars or real actors that we had in the past? Gone are the days when studios had an iron claw on the stars and being a celebrity actually meant something.

Yes, today we still have a handful of Academy Award winning movie stars such as Meryl Streep, George Clooney, Tom Hanks, and Clint Eastwood. We don’t have stars like Steve McQueen, James Dean or an Audrey Hepburn. But that's on the big screen.

Today, television is packed with reality shows that makes us lose brain cells and it seems like we be...

The Hollywood icon, who starred alongside Dean in the classic film Giant, told Sessums, "I'm going to tell you something, but it's off the record until I die. OK?"

The journalist has now recalled the 14-year-old ...

Pattinson,_Robert
Robert Pattinson became a hot commodity in Hollywood not too long ago, but his aspirations are still sky high.

Pattinson was chatting about his latest movie "Remember Me," saying that he enjoyed being a little more reckless on the set than he is in real life - and that it was even "fun" to let his rage out on the set.

The "Twilight" star says he's heavily influenced by 50s movie star James Dean, although he admits he doesn't possess the "smooth moves" to get the ladies. He says he's more self-conscious than his characters - to the point where he doesn't remember the last time he asked a ...

For a culture that values and admires celebrity, the death of vibrant public figures with potential yet to fulfill serves as a harsh reminder that despite glamour, talent and seemingly charmed lives, all of us are mortal. Whether on screens big or small, over the radio airwaves or in bright vivid color on canvas, the sudden passing of an entertainer can feel like the...
