Actor Robert De Niro has revealed that his artist father was gay in a new HBO documentary called, "Remembering the Artist: Robert De Niro, Sr.," and in a new interview with OUT magazine.

De Niro, who took it upon himself to preserve his abstract expressionist painter father's Soho, New York, studio, directed the documentary about his late father, who died of cancer in 1993.

The actor reads his father's personal journals in the film and reveals the elder De Niro's conflicts over coming to terms with his homosexuality.

After James Gandolfini died of a heart attack over the summer, the fate of his mini-series "Criminal Justice" was up in the air. Robert De Niro will now replace his late friend in the program.

"The Sopranos" star, who died in Italy and June, developed the seven part series. He'll remain a producer posthumously.

Robert De Niro is reportedly preparing to take legal action against a security firm over allegations a system in place at his New York home may have sparked a fire at the apartment.

The Raging Bull star's Manhattan home was damaged by a blaze in June and firefighters initially blamed a build-up of lint in his clothes dryer for the accident.

Robert De Niro's New York City apartment has been damaged by a fire.

Firefighters were called to the blaze on Friday afternoon and quickly extinguished the flames.

De Niro was not at home when the fire broke out and reports suggest the actor is in fact out of the country.

The blaze began on the fourth floor of the 88 Central Park West building; the Cape Fear star lives on the fifth floor.
