Police Called To 'Gasland Part II' Premiere At Robert De Niro's Tribeca Film Fest

On Sunday, a group of protestors tried to get into a screening of a controversial new documentary at Robert De Niro's Tribeca Film Festival.

Police were called after a group of campaigners attended the premiere of "Gasland Part II," a sequel to 2010's "Gasland." They were refused entry into the event. According to the New York Post, the activists claim staff refused to allow them in, fearing they would "make trouble."

Among those turned away was Phelim McAleer, a journalist and documentary filmmaker behind "FrackNation," which questions claims made in "Gasland." The latter film focuses on...

2013 Tribeca Film Festival Kicks Off With Premiere Of 'Mistaken For Strangers'

The 2013 Tribeca Film Festival got off to a rockin' start last night with the world premiere of the film "Mistaken for Strangers," a rockumentary following the indie band The National. The star-studded event was held at New York's downtown BMCC; guests included festival co-founder Robert Di Nero, Liza Minneli, Adam Goldberg and Mira Sorvino.

Robert De Niro is bringing A Bronx Tale back to Broadway as a musical 20 years after stepping behind the camera to direct a movie adaptation of the play.

The Goodfellas star bought the film rights to the story after seeing Chazz Palminteri perform his one-man show in New York in the 1990s, and the 1993 movie marked his directorial debut.

Now, it has emerged De Niro is to bring the play back to Broadway with a musical twist.

Robert De Niro is reportedly preparing to take legal action against a security firm over allegations a system in place at his New York home may have sparked a fire at the apartment.

The Raging Bull star's Manhattan home was damaged by a blaze in June and firefighters initially blamed a build-up of lint in his clothes dryer for the accident.

However, new court papers, obtained by the New York Post, suggest the flames could have been started by a camera or intercom system, and bosses at a security company are preparing to defend themselves over possible legal action.

Robert De Niro's New York City apartment has been damaged by a fire.

Firefighters were called to the blaze on Friday afternoon and quickly extinguished the flames.

De Niro was not at home when the fire broke out and reports suggest the actor is in fact out of the country.

The blaze began on the fourth floor of the 88 Central Park West building; the Cape Fear star lives on the fifth floor.

There were no reported injuries and at press time the extent of the damage is unclear.
