Jim Carrey And Jeff Daniels Flip Burgers With Fake Arms On 'Tonight Show'

June 11th, 2014 1:16pm EDT
Jimmy Fallon, Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels
Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels were on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night to promote the trailer of their upcoming film Dumb and Dumber To, but they may have upstaged that with a skit involving fake arms.

The recurring skit has guests use mannequin arms instead of their own while they act out a soap opera. This time, Carrey is a trainee at a burger joint and Daniels is the manager. Fallon wants a burger and fries, something fairly difficult to prepare with mannequin arms!

Jim Carrey really shines in the skit, as it involves quite a bit of ad-libbing and reminds us of the uni...

The Most Anticipated Films Of 2014, Part One

January 1st, 2014 9:03am EST
Dumb and Dumber
No more new films will be released in 2013 - but there's no need to fret! Check out why we're hyped (and why we're worried) for these highly-anticipated 2014 films:

Dumb And Dumber To

Why We’re Hyped: The Farrelly Brothers, Jim Carey, and Jeff Daniels would only do the film if everyone was involved.

Why We’re Worried: When’s the last time the Farrelly Brothers made a good movie? Will Jim Carrey alienate half of his audience on Twitter – again?

The Expendables 3

Why We’re Hyped: Antonio Banderas, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson and Kelsey Grammer join the ridiculous cast for another go at...

Jeff Daniels jetted to Atlanta, Georgia, following his Emmy win for "Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series" trophy for "The Newsroom" on Sunday in order to work on the upcoming "Dumb and Dumber" sequel.

Daniels was the surprise winner in a category that saw competition from heavyweights including Jon Hamm ("Mad Men"), Bryan Cranston ("Breaking Bad"), Kevin Spacey ("House of Cards"), and Damian Lewis ("Homeland.")

The actor had to skip the after parties in order to start shooting "Dumb and Dumber To" on Monday morning.

He plays Harry Dunne in the sequel to the 1994 flick and has promis...

What's the Final Headline for 'The Newsroom'?

August 26th, 2012 2:00pm EDT
The Newsroom
The Newsroom was easily the most talked-about new series of 2012. Between the hype and the alleged backlash and the real backlash, everyone seemed to have their two cents about HBO's newest original series. Yet now as we approach tonight's first-season finale, what have we learned from it all?

There will be no hand-wringing or teeth-grinding about its fate: we learned long ago that the show has been renewed for a second season. So, that's the usual burning question out of the way.

We've seen that after the short-lived Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Aaron Sorkin has returned to televisio...

10 Pairs Of Stars Often Confused For Each Other

10 Pairs Of Stars Often Confused For Each Other
Have you ever watched a movie thinking that one of the stars was someone else? Well, it probably happens a lot with these 10 stars -- in fact, they probably get recognized on the street and asked about movies they weren't even in.

There are even stars who don't look that much alike that are easily confused.

Consider Bill Pullman. The star of such hit films as Dumb And Dumber and Twister -- er, wait a minute, that was Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber and Bill Paxton in Twister (okay, so this isn't a pair of stars, it's three).

Bill Pullman became a recognizable face thanks to Mel Brooks' c...

Brittany's Blog: Things 'The Newsroom' Taught Me

August 5th, 2012 12:00pm EDT
The Newsroom
This is my viewpoint, from the far end of the couch...and this week I want to discuss a little show called The Newsroom, and all the things I've learned from it. Not only is it one of the best shows you're not watching, it's a series that - love it or hate it - has almost become bigger than the show itself. There's enough to talk about that..well, it unintentionally took over this entire blog. So, in no particular order, here are seven things that I've taken away from The Newsroom.

1. The TV Main Title Sequence Is Not Dead

The television main title sequence seems to be on its way to bei...

Jim Carrey Back On Board For Dumb & Dumber Sequel

Dumb And Dumber
The Dumb And Dumber sequel is back on - Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey are just awaiting a polished script and hope to start shooting with the Farrelly Brothers early next year.

Carrey reportedly dropped out of the project earlier this summer, just two months after the director siblings announced plans to reboot the 1994 comedy about two dim-witted pals, citing frustrations with the project's lack of progress, but Daniels insists his co-star is back on board.

He says, "We almost were able to kinda get it done this year, but they're still working on the script.

Reading 'The Newsroom': 'I'll Try To Fix You'

July 15th, 2012 11:00pm EDT
The Newsroom
The fourth episode of The Newsroom takes on a story that captivated the nation, while everyone's love lives get needlessly meddled in, and Don finally stops being a jerk. While the show struggles with its subplots, there's no denying that it knows how to do the news, even if it's news from two years ago.

The Top Story

While The Newsroom has been grounded in real-life personalities and events from the start, "I'll Try To Fix You" is the first episode where it tackles head-on a real news story that we also all know well: the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. While the BP oil s...

It's messy and more than a little familiar, but it's still an impressive addition to the summer TV landscape.

The Top Story

"The 112th Congress" opens with something that should be very familiar to fans of Sorkin's previous show about a TV show: an on-air apology. Will opens News Night with an editorial comment about how sorry he is for the program's past mistakes and flaws. "I'm a leader in an ind...

Despite Jim Carrey quitting the planned project earlier this month, Jeff Daniels is hopeful a "Dumb & Dumber" sequel will eventually hit the big screen.

The highly-anticipated follow-up to the 1994 comedy about two dim-witted pals was confirmed by the Farrelly brothers in April, but the production has been stalled by continuous delays and lack of studio support for the film.

Carrey eventually walked away from the movie after growing "increasingly frustrated" by the project's lack of progress, but Daniels is optimistic the sequel will one day be made.

He tells CNN's Piers Morgan, "I know ...

Aaron Sorkin Strikes Again With 'The Newsroom'

The Newsroom
The Newsroom is pure Aaron Sorkin. The fingerprints of his creative vision are obvious and numerous throughout HBO's newest original series. And damned if that isn't a sight to behold.

Sorkin has a unique and very specific voice, one that television has missed. This isn't to detract from his successes with Moneyball and The Social Network, or at the beginning of his career with The American President and A Few Good Men. But Sorkin on the small screen is something different. Sports Night, The West Wing and even the lesser-regarded Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip gave us the chance to savor ...

There's a double edged sword that comes along with being a famous television star; you have the success and Golden Globe nominations, but what do you do afterward? Lauren Graham is an actress of great comedic timing and ability, and after eight years on the hit show "Gilmore Girls," she made Lorelai Gilmore one of the coolest moms ever on television. Spunky, smart, and fast talking, Lorelai was a hit from the beginning in the sharply written TV series, and Graham's own personal charm certainly added to the character. All you Gilmore fans must be wondering, where did Graham come from and whe...

Last Tuesday I had the opportunity to catch "Dead Snow" on Demand, and it was everything I hoped it would be. To enjoy the film though you truly need to suspend your disbelief, because if Nazi zombies are not enough, there are tons of really ridiculous, impossible events that occur.

This self-aware horror film makes many hilarious references both directly and indirectly to other movies of the genre. Characters are incredibly cliché and the dialogue is woefully written, but it is an action packed gore-fest featuring some of the most delightfully brutal horror movie deaths.

Starpulse's Explosive Summer Movie Preview

Star Trek
Since the dawn of the American cinematic blockbuster in the late 1970s and early 1980s, moviegoers have eagerly waited for May - the unofficial beginning of summertime. This summer is no different. Films, and most popular media, are social mirrors, and this summer season supports that. The large box office contenders all deal with very similar themes: escapism and the support of the lone, outlaw hero figure (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Star Trek, Terminator Salvation, Up, Transformers 2, Public Enemies, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, Inglourious Basterds, et...

The film captured the title of highest grossing opening weekend for a car-themed movie by taking in $72.5 million. I think it's important to note this, because I believe I'm an excellent judge of movies, but I admit the movies I recommend will not always reflect the average American movie patron's opinion.
