Celebrity Impersonators Flock to Las Vegas for the Reel Awards - Do They Pull off Their Stars Though?

February 27th, 2011 5:45pm EST
Impersonators
This is why What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas: the "stars" - Lady Gaga, Ozzy Osbourne, Robert Pattinson and a myriad of others - were out Thursday night at the Golden Nugget casino in Las Vegas for the 20th Annual Reel Awards - given to the best celebrity impersonators from around the world.

Yes, around the world.

The event is a spoof/tribute to the Academy Awards and is presented as such; with categories that mirror the Oscars, like Best Actor, Best Actress and a Lifetime Achievement Award. It also has its own categories, like Best Tribute Band, Best Classic Crooner and Most Professi...

9 Lessons For College Freshmen Gleaned From Watching 'Back To School'

August 23rd, 2010 11:44am EDT
Itttss a dead mans parrtty
Lesson 1: Never buy used books: According to the College Board, the national average for the cost of books for the 2009-2010 school year was $1,122, a price that would strain even the most gilded of coffers. To combat this, most students buy books used. Used books are cheaper, the pages are worn so they make for better pillows, and they have the added benefit of having all of the important stuff already underlined. But, as millionaire freshman Thornton Melon points out, what if the person who owned the book before was an idiot? He or she may have thought highlighting all of the unimportant ...

Check Out The 30th Anniversary Of 'Caddyshack,' On DVD & On Demand Jun 8

June 6th, 2010 7:20am EDT
Caddyshack
The smash success "Caddyshack" became a prototype for countless other wacky T&A-tinged teen comedies of the early 1980s.

At an exclusive country club for WASPish snobs, an ambitious young caddy (Michael O'Keefe) from an overpopulated home eagerly pursues a caddy scholarship in hopes of attending college and, in turn, avoiding a job at the lumber yard. In order to succeed, he must first win the favor of the elitist Judge Smails (Ted Knight), then the caddy golf tournament which the good judge sponsors.

Of course, there are love interests as well - one good, one naughty - not to mention s...

Taking You Back To 'Year One': A Spotlight On Harold Ramis

June 19th, 2009 10:10am EDT
Harold Ramis
You probably know him best as the deadpan Dr. Egon Spengler, a collector of spores, molds, and fungus, but relatively few know Harold Ramis for what he does best: writing and directing.

With his latest directorial effort, the stone-age comedy "Year One" coming out today, I felt it was appropriate to pay tribute a man who has been working behind the scenes on some of the best comedies of the past 30 years.

Harold Ramis was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1944 to Ruth and Nathan Ramis, two shop owners on Chicago's West Side. Staunchly loyal to the Chicago area, Ramis has lived there for...

Is It OK To Dislike Caddyshack?

January 5th, 2009 12:00pm EST
Caddyshack
Caddyshack isn't that good, and it's not very funny. If you're 9 out of 10 red blooded American men, that last sentence just infuriated you like I just made slanderous remarks about your grandmother. I've never met your grandmother, but I have seen Caddyshack - and it kind of sucks. My editors were quick to advise me that although they were giving me the go-ahead on this piece, they would have to include a bigger than usual disclaimer saying that the opinions expressed are solely that of Matthew J. Swanson. I'll tell you that right now, too: it is just my opinion, but it happens to be t...

Adam Sandler Is A Father

May 8th, 2006 9:31am EDT
Adam Sandler
Adam Sandler has become a dad. The baby girl is the first child for the Happy Gilmore star and his wife, Jackie. A statement on the comic actor's website reads: "Kid is healthy!! Wife is healthy!! He's still a moron, and that's all that counts!!!"

The girl - who has yet to be named - was born on Sunday at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles. Sandler met his 31-year-old wife seven years ago when she had a brief role in his film Big Daddy.
