Top Ten Memorable 'Movie Moms'

5/6/2011 2:00pm EDT
Mother poster
Like ‘em, love 'em or hate ‘em, everyone has a mother. The person who carried us for nine months, mended our boo-boos and smothered us with so much love that sometimes it felt like a woolen blanket on an extra hot day. (Wait, maybe that was just mine - kidding mom!) In any case Mother’s Day is coming up on May 8 and Starpulse thought it only respectful to pay a little cinematic love to the ladies who first gave us life. So here is an ever-eclectic list of the funniest, toughest, scariest, strangest and downright quirkiest caregivers to ever grace the silver screen – it’s our...Top Ten M...

Top Ten Movie 'Bad Kids' - Part One

4/6/2011 10:00am EDT
hanna picture
In light of the five-star film "Hanna" from Focus Features hitting theaters April 8, felt that movie kids that kick ass just weren’t getting their due. So we decided to make a list of some seriously bad babes (not in Toyland anymore!) that bother way beyond their youthful years. Yes, "Hanna" is herself a teen, but for those minors with moxie our list is going to encompass all of you – youngsters of all ages who made their movie impression with everything from scares to sass. So to the tots that take life, adolescence with attitude and just plain nasty brats in need of a sp...

'Con Air 2' In The Works?

1/26/2011 1:51pm EST
Con Air
Director Simon West has confirmed he's making plans to reunite with Nicolas Cage for a Con Air sequel.

Cage played a convict caught up in a mid-air riot on a prisoner plane in the 1997 action-thriller, which also featured star turns from John Cusack and John Malkovich.

West, who directed the original, is now hoping to bring the cast back together to make a follow-up - 14 years after Con Air hit cinemas.

He tells, "I'd like to do... Con Air 2... It'd be great. It's a matter of getting everybody together. There's so many people involved and it's about getting everybody to...

NASA Scientists Slam '2012'

1/3/2011 10:51am EST
NASA scientists have named John Cusack's blockbuster 2012 as the most "absurd" sci-fi film of all time.

Experts at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) put together a list of the least plausible science fiction movies ever made, and the big budget 2009 picture came top. The film, which depicted Earth besieged by natural disasters, featured ahead of two more 'end-of-the-world' movies - 2003's The Core and 1998's Armageddon.

Donald Yeomans, head of NASA's Near-Earth Asteroid Rendezvous mission, says of 2012, "It's absurd. The film-makers took advantage of public worrie...

John Cusack At War With Fox News

9/1/2010 8:17am EDT
John Cusack
John Cusack is embroiled in a war of words with journalists at Fox News after he called for a "satanic death cult" to be set up outside the broadcasting giant's headquarters.

The High Fidelity star made the barbed comments on his blog after he was asked his opinion on the proposal to build a mosque at Ground Zero, the site of the former World Trade Center in New York.

He wrote, "I am for a satanic death cult center at Fox News HQ and outside the offices of (former U.S. Representatives) Dick Armey and Newt Gingrich - and all the GOP (Grand Old Party/Republican Party) welfare ...

John Cusack
John Cusack has confirmed he is set to play Edgar Allan Poe in a new murder mystery.

The actor will star as the horror writer in director James McTeigue's forthcoming "The Raven," a fictionalized account of Poe's mysterious last days chasing a serial killer.

In a post on Twitter, Cusack announces: "Official I will play Edgar Allen Poe in fall. A film called The Raven, send any Poe gold my way as I begin this journey into the abyss."

Ewan McGregor and Jeremy Renner were previously in talks for the project but their parts were not specified. It is unclear if either actor is still involved....

Brooke Burns' Next Project? 'Titanic 2' - We Kid You Not

5/13/2010 11:19am EDT
Brooke Burns
Brooke Burns showed up at "An Evening With NBC" in Universal City, Calif., yesterday looking slim and trim in a patterned purple spring-like dress. We like the fresh and vibrant look. What do you think?

The actress was recently rumored to be dating John Cusack. 31-year-old Brooke was previously married to "Nip/Tuck" star Julian McMahon, the father of her 9-year-old daughter. After their 2001 divorce, she got engaged to Bruce Willis, but the pair split up in 2004.

Gerard Butler's animated adventure "How To Train Your Dragon" has fought its way to the top of the box office chart with opening weekend takings of $43.3 million.

John Cusack's 1980s comedy "Hot Tub Time Machine" enters the chart at three af...

3/23/2010 8:56pm EDT
Amanda Peet
On March 25,2010, Los Angeles based Signature Magazine will be featuring a pregnant Amanda Peet on its Spring Fashion Cover.

As the Issue's title suggests, fashion takes the center stage alongside some of L.A.'s biggest hot spots and notables and Peet reinforces that L.A. is the place for both, while reminiscing about the joys of motherhood.

She has played in such memorable film as "Something's Gotta Give" alongside Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton, "Syriana" with George Clooney & Matt Damon, and "2012" with John Cusack.

This year, Peet will have two more movies on the big screen: "Gul...

The hot tub machine
On Thursday night I finally went to see “Crazy Heart” since it was still playing at one of my local theaters. While it’s not always the happiest film, it is grounded and real, like you’re actually following the life of a country musician addicted to the rock star lifestyle, despite being past his prime.

Jeff Bridges gives a deep and nuanced performance as the lead character Bad Blake, convincingly portrays a washed up country singer riding on fumes. Blake’s selfish behavior and penchant for the bottle alienate him from other characters in the film, but Bridges’ kind face and sense of hum...

Celebrating The Comedic John Cusack: A Spotlight On His Funniest Roles

11/13/2009 10:54am EST
John Cusack
Even though he doesn't make Academy Award winning material, John Cusack certainly knows how to make entertaining films. Since the early 80s, Cusack's awkward boyish charm has been attracting audiences to his comedies.

While some of his movies over the years have been outlandish and goofy from a plot perspective, Cusack's deadpan sense of humor tends to keep them grounded in a way a lot of viewers can relate to.

Cusack's latest role in Roland Emmerich's "2012" veers away from his traditional light hearted fare toward something heavier. Judging from the previews, it looks like a thri...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - '2012,' 'Pirate Radio' & More

11/9/2009 9:52am EST
At some point this week I hope to catch the wacky comedy "The Men Who Stare at Goats." While I have read some bad reviews of the film, I believe my tendency to disagree with the mainstream, could be a wild card for my own appraisal of the movie.

I'm having difficulty believing the collection of George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges could contribute to a horrific film considering I how much appreciate their abilities on screen.

Roland Emmerich destroys the world yet another time this week with his apocalyptic tale "2012." The quirky animation of Wes Anders...

The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus
The holidays are approaching, and if people are not busy running around thinking of Christmas or Hanukkah gifts, they're considering what to do with their family when they actually have to entertain everyone.

Every year there are big blockbuster films that come out around Thanksgiving and Christmas purposely devoted to people looking to enjoy time with their families, or to escape from them for a few blissful hours.

Here's a look at some of the movies coming out for the holiday season:

10 Rom-Com Heartthrobs Who Need Restraining Orders

9/9/2009 4:06pm EDT
John Cusack
Ever notice the lengths at which a male lead will go to get the girl of his dreams in a movie? Did it ever creep you out that his stalker tendencies actually won the love of his life? Lemondrop thought about it and presented the 10 men from romantic comedies that need restraining orders.

As Andrea Zimmerman writes: "In no particular order, here are some moments that never meant to scream stalker, but totally do anyway. And we've rated them based on the ultimate stalker boy/friend, Duckie, from 'Pretty in Pink.'"

Previewing The Movies: Fall 2009

2009 Fall Movie Previews
With summer coming to an end, there's one major thing to consider: what's going to be entertaining for the next three months? We assume you're thinking the same thing (great minds being alike and all), so here's the rundown of what Hollywood has coming:

Gamer (09/04/09)

Director: Mark Neveldine, Brian Taylor

Starring: Gerard Butler, Michael C. Hall

Gamer will be one of the coolest movies of the season because it actually manages to bring a fairly new concept to the action genre. In the near future, with mind control technology pretty much commonplace, billionaire Ken Castle (Michael...

Coming-Of-Age Films That We All Remember

7/8/2009 1:00pm EDT
Making the transition from adolescence into adulthood is a critical phase in an individual's life. This coming-of-age period, which has been coined "emerging adulthood" by Clark University research professor, Dr. Jeffrey Arnett, is characterized by identity exploration, self-focus, instability, a belief in boundless possibilities, and feeling in-between. According to Arnett's theory, in industrialized societies the types of experiences that people have who are in their late teens to mid-20's have changed dramatically over the past 50 years. Instead of being quick to make that walk down the ...

Rockin' and Reelin': Seven Spectacular Movie Concerts

7/7/2009 10:00am EDT
School of Rock
Pull out your lighter, turn up the volume, and get ready to throw up the horns. This jammin' compilation is my top seven compilation of climactic movie concerts. Why seven? Seven is a nice odd number.

When I first decided to form a list of top movie concerts, I thought having a wealth of film knowledge would help me out. Sitting down to draft the list however, I found myself at a loss for ideas. I couldn't see the forest for the trees, and plots sat jumbled together in my head.

After thinking for a few days and taking a stroll through my neighborhood Blockbuster's going out of bu...

Bolivia Gets
Here's a few videos for you to check out: a Bolivian news epic fail; someone shows up a bit late for the red carpet event for Transformers 2; The trailer for Roland Emmerich's latest 'destroy the planet' film; and Chelsea Handler gives us her two cents over Heidi Montag's music video. Watch all four right here!

A TV station in Bolivia showed "exclusive images" of the Air France crash over the Atlantic Ocean that happened a few weeks ago. The images were shown on a nightly news program and included an image of the plane's roof being torn off and a person being sucked out. Funny thing ...

Michael Cudlitz Discusses Tonight's 'Southland' Season Finale

Michael Cudlitz Discusses Tonight's 'Southland' Season Finale
When Michael Cudlitz and I last spoke, back in April, I used some, well, (ahem) colorful language during an interview junket --

a junket that everyone but me thought was on live local television -- to describe his character on Southland, Officer John Cooper. We finally get a chance to go one-on-one and clear the air over that moment and, more importantly, discuss tonight's season finale of Southland (airing at 10 pm ET on NBC) along with his experience on Band of Brothers and working with John Cusack in Grosse Point Blank.

Michael Cudlitz: You're the guy who said, "You're a dick."

The Best & Worst Of Julia Roberts

3/27/2009 9:26am EDT
Mary Reilly
As one of the highest paid actresses in the world, it is no surprise that Julia Roberts has a long and varied career to admire. She started out as a romantic comedy charmer, and she has done several of them even after her vast popularity, but eventually Roberts moved into more dramatic filmmaking and huge box office hits.

She was the first actress to be on the cover of Vogue, and she is undoubtedly considered one of America's Sweethearts, so much so that she actually starred in a movie of the same name! Beautiful, intelligent, well spoken, and hard working, Roberts has been in a numbe...

Separated At Birth? Stars Who Look Like Other Stars

8/1/2008 8:45am EDT
Idina Menzel & Penelope Cruz
Ever hear the theory that everyone has a twin? Some believe that each and every person has a double somewhere on Earth. Whether that theory is true is debatable. However, it's uncanny how some celebrities resemble each other. Sometimes it's an obvious trait: similar hairstyle, body type or facial features. Other times it's more subtle: similar roles or names.

Whatever the reason, the following stars have something about them that makes them look like another famous somebody. And that's not always a good thing.

1.) Perhaps it's the enormous beer gut that makes this trio seem r...
