NASA Scientists Slam '2012'

January 3rd, 2011 10:51am EST
2012
NASA scientists have named John Cusack's blockbuster 2012 as the most "absurd" sci-fi film of all time.

Experts at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) put together a list of the least plausible science fiction movies ever made, and the big budget 2009 picture came top. The film, which depicted Earth besieged by natural disasters, featured ahead of two more 'end-of-the-world' movies - 2003's The Core and 1998's Armageddon.

Donald Yeomans, head of NASA's Near-Earth Asteroid Rendezvous mission, says of 2012, "It's absurd. The film-makers took advantage of public worrie...

September 1st, 2010 8:17am EDT
John Cusack
John Cusack is embroiled in a war of words with journalists at Fox News after he called for a "satanic death cult" to be set up outside the broadcasting giant's headquarters.

The High Fidelity star made the barbed comments on his Twitter.com blog after he was asked his opinion on the proposal to build a mosque at Ground Zero, the site of the former World Trade Center in New York.

He wrote, "I am for a satanic death cult center at Fox News HQ and outside the offices of (former U.S. Representatives) Dick Armey and Newt Gingrich - and all the GOP (Grand Old Party/Republican Party) welfare ...

Brooke Burns
Brooke Burns showed up at "An Evening With NBC" in Universal City, Calif., yesterday looking slim and trim in a patterned purple spring-like dress. We like the fresh and vibrant look. What do you think?

The actress was recently rumored to be dating John Cusack. 31-year-old Brooke was previously married to "Nip/Tuck" star Julian McMahon, the father of her 9-year-old daughter. After their 2001 divorce, she got engaged to Bruce Willis, but the pair split up in 2004.

Brooke is currently filming "Titanic 2," according to slashfilm.com. On the 100th anniversary of the original voyage, a modern...

Amanda Peet
On March 25,2010, Los Angeles based Signature Magazine will be featuring a pregnant Amanda Peet on its Spring Fashion Cover.

As the Issue's title suggests, fashion takes the center stage alongside some of L.A.'s biggest hot spots and notables and Peet reinforces that L.A. is the place for both, while reminiscing about the joys of motherhood.

She has played in such memorable film as "Something's Gotta Give" alongside Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton, "Syriana" with George Clooney & Matt Damon, and "2012" with John Cusack.

This year, Peet will have two more movies on the big screen: "Gul...

The hot tub machine
On Thursday night I finally went to see “Crazy Heart” since it was still playing at one of my local theaters. While it’s not always the happiest film, it is grounded and real, like you’re actually following the life of a country musician addicted to the rock star lifestyle, despite being past his prime.

Jeff Bridges gives a deep and nuanced performance as the lead character Bad Blake, convincingly portrays a washed up country singer riding on fumes. Blake’s selfish behavior and penchant for the bottle alienate him from other characters in the film, but Bridges’ kind face and sense of hum...

Celebrating The Comedic John Cusack: A Spotlight On His Funniest Roles

November 13th, 2009 10:54am EST
John Cusack
Even though he doesn't make Academy Award winning material, John Cusack certainly knows how to make entertaining films. Since the early 80s, Cusack's awkward boyish charm has been attracting audiences to his comedies.

While some of his movies over the years have been outlandish and goofy from a plot perspective, Cusack's deadpan sense of humor tends to keep them grounded in a way a lot of viewers can relate to.

Cusack's latest role in Roland Emmerich's "2012" veers away from his traditional light hearted fare toward something heavier. Judging from the previews, it looks like a thri...

2012
At some point this week I hope to catch the wacky comedy "The Men Who Stare at Goats." While I have read some bad reviews of the film, I believe my tendency to disagree with the mainstream, could be a wild card for my own appraisal of the movie.

I'm having difficulty believing the collection of George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges could contribute to a horrific film considering I how much appreciate their abilities on screen.

Roland Emmerich destroys the world yet another time this week with his apocalyptic tale "2012." The quirky animation of Wes Anders...

Coming-Of-Age Films That We All Remember

Making the transition from adolescence into adulthood is a critical phase in an individual's life. This coming-of-age period, which has been coined "emerging adulthood" by Clark University research professor, Dr. Jeffrey Arnett, is characterized by identity exploration, self-focus, instability, a belief in boundless possibilities, and feeling in-between. According to Arnett's theory, in industrialized societies the types of experiences that people have who are in their late teens to mid-20's have changed dramatically over the past 50 years. Instead of being quick to make that walk down the ...

Pull out your lighter, turn up the volume, and get ready to throw up the horns. This jammin' compilation is my top seven compilation of climactic movie concerts. Why seven? Seven is a nice odd number.

Ever hear the theory that everyone has a twin? Some believe that each and every person has a double somewhere on Earth. Whether that theory is true is debatable. However, it's uncanny how some celebrities resemble each other. Sometimes it's an obvious trait: similar hairstyle, body type or facial features. Other times it's more subtle: similar roles or names.

Whatever the reason, the following stars have something about them that makes them look like another famous somebody. And that's not always a good thing.
