New Bond Movie To Give Modern Day Twist To Book 'Devil May Care'

The basis for next film installment of the James Bond franchise, with Daniel Craig returning in the role of super-spy James Bond, has been chosen.

According to a U.K. report, Craig and director Sam Mendes will be adapting Sebastian Faulks' book "Devil May Care" for the next film, the 24th in the series, set to open in late 2014.

Faulks wrote the 2008 novel, a sequel to The Man with The Golden Gun, to mark the 100th anniversary of Bond author Ian Fleming's birth, but attempts to bring the story to the big screen have previously been shelved due to its 1960s setting.

Skyfall has become the first Bond film to sail past $1 billion at the global box office.

The Sam Mendes movie, starring Daniel Craig as the iconic superspy, is only the third film of 2012 to break through the $1 billion barrier.

Skyfall has grossed $289.6 million in America and $701.6 million internationally, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

On Sunday, Daniel Craig traveled to Afghanistan and introduced a screening of new James Bond movie "Skyfall" to British troops.

Soldiers were shocked when the actor made a secret trip to to Camp Bastion in Helmand Province.

Craig gave a brief speech to the real-life heroes ahead of the screening after he took a tour of the base and met with members of the military.

Daniel Craig's iconic Casino Royale swimming trunks and a car he drove in Quantum Of Solace helped raise more than $1.6 million at a James Bond memorabilia auction in London on Friday night.

The Global Bond Day Christie's sale was held to mark the 50th anniversary of the first superspy movie, Dr. No, and former James Bond icon Roger Moore was on hand to help sell off several collectibles and props.
