The hottest couple that would have donned the top of our list of unmarried Hollywood couples surprised us all and got engaged last week- Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. I am so going to miss The United States of Tara, and the finale exemplified many of the reasons why this show should have been renewed. The acting is superb, the characters well realized, and the comedy/drama fine line walked so exquisitely that the viewer truly doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Charmaine and Kate ask Tara why she hasn’t told Max about her new alter, Bryce. Bryce may be only 14, but he’s a homicidal maniac who’s been killing off the other alters, and tried to kill Dr. Hattaras through his allergy to seafood. Tara’s packed up all traces of Bryce, including the clothing of the ‘murdered’ alters, while taking heavy doses of her medication. Since Bryce has been forcing Tara to throw up the pills she’s swallowed, Tara is now snorting her meds. She doesn’t want to spoil Max’s trip, and has decided she’ll wait for his return, and his help in dealing with Bryce.

In the dark night, we see a middle aged man walking across a roof top, with a kite tail attached to his ankle. Suddenly, he jumps off the edge.

In Tara’s kitchen, Tara is waxing eloquently about the benefits of yoga, while cooking a huge steak. We catch up on everyone’s week. Kate continues to pursue Evan, the frequent flyer still immune to her charms, Charmaine wonders how to handle the baby on her own, with Neil away, before remembering that she’s left said baby on its own, and Marshall is struggling with his film project. Max is in a great mood. His birthday is coming, he has a job tha...

Tara, working outside, is bedevilled by a cawing crow. She transitions into Buck, who shoots the crow, then back into herself as Tara. While telling Dr Hatteras about the incident, she says that she thinks the contract they’ve made is really working out. He’s more concerned with what Tara is not telling him, like how she’s dealing with Max. She claims they’ve talking about his worries, but Hatteras says having sex instead of talking is not dealing with a problem. He’s concerned that she has settled for things being ‘fine.’

Tara wants to drop her Abnormal Psychology class with Dr Hatteras, embarrassed by her performance during the test, in which all her personalities emerged. He refuses to let her drop the course, completely intrigued with the contract papers on which her personalities wrote. He’s obsessed with her condition, and wants to write a paper that will free him from his job at the college. She protests that she’s not a lab rat for him to study. He gives her a book he’s written about a patient he has helped, and tells her to read it.

Charmaine is being rushed to the hospital by ambulance, as Tara tries to provide comfort. She runs through a litany of Tara’s sins, including the wedding disturbance, and tells the staff at the hospital to keep the ‘crazy’ away from her and the baby. Of course, given her verbal diarrhoea in the ambulance, it’s debatable who the crazy is.

John Corbett was so terrified of the crows who attack his character in hit new horror movie The Messengers, he insisted on using a body double for the pecking terror. The movie hunk was far from convinced he'd be totally safe from the "killer crows" and insisted on bringing in a stuntman whenever he could for attack scenes.
