Artificial Intelligence Is 'Way Too Unpredictable' In 'Chappie'

November 6th, 2014 3:37pm EST
Chappie
The trailer for director Neill Blomkamp's new film about a sentient robot that becomes human-like via a breakthrough in artificial intelligence was just released, and like the director's previous two films, "District 9" and "Elysium," it promises to make you think.

"Chappie" stars Blomkamp favorite Sharlto Copley in the title role, along with Dev Patel as the scientist who creates him, and centers on the title character's experiences in the world, growing and learning as time goes on, and becoming influenced by its surroundings.

Naturally, since it's a Blomkamp film, there's a bit of a tw...

LA Film Fest 2013 - Director Sebastian Cordero Talks Space In Small Spaces With 'Europa Report'

June 20th, 2013 10:34am EDT
LAFF 2013
Taking on a movie set in outer space is hard work, but daring to do it on a small budget is even harder.  That was the challenge facing Ecuadorian filmmaker Sebastian Cordero, but with his knack for good storytelling and helping mold great performances the table was set for a memorable meal.  The end result, the new film "Europa Report" (showing at LA Film Fest 2013), delivers handsomely with stark visuals, a distinctively claustrophobic feel and an eclectic cast of characters that drive the emotion home.  It’s quite a feat for a filmmaker mostly known for creating realistic and gritty dram...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'The A-Team,' 'The Karate Kid,' & More

June 7th, 2010 9:18am EDT
Karate Kid
Last week’s “Get Him to the Greek” turned out to be much funnier than I expected it would be. Jonah Hill plays a naïve record company intern tasked with watching the wild rock star Aldous Snow, portrayed by Russell Brand. It’s clear right from the beginning that Hill’s character is unable to fathom the mess he has gotten into taking care of Snow, and he quickly gives in to Snow’s party lifestyle.

Most of the film’s humor is based in the awkward interactions between Hill’s Aaron and Brand’s Aldous, with typical lowbrow laughs. However this formula just seems to fit very well for the mov...

June 5th, 2010 9:15am EDT
Kristen Bell
Kristen Bell showed up at "The A-Team" world premiere in Hollywood on Thursday wearing a short, colorful dress that thankfully did not include shoulder pads. What do you think of her look? Vote Below!

Kristen recently starred in the romantic comedy "When in Rome," which arrives on DVD June 15. She plays an ambitious New Yorker who defiantly swipes a few magic coins from a "foolish" wishing fountain, inadvertently igniting the passions of a motley crew of suitors as she's pursued by a handsome reporter with charm to spare.

She also stars in the upcoming film "You Again," in which her chara...

Jessica Biel's Lacy Black & White Gown: Hot Or Not?

June 4th, 2010 11:49am EDT
Jessica Biel
Jessica Biel was beautiful in black and white at "The A-Team" world premiere in Hollywood yesterday. She showed a little leg in the toga-inspired lace-midriffed gown, which featured a long thigh-high slit and showed off her luscious derriere.

Jessica plays Capt. Charisa Sosa in the film remake of the classic 1980s TV series; which also stars Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Sharlto Copley. The movie centers on a group of Iraq War veterans who look to clear their name with the U.S. military, which suspects them of committing a crime for which they were framed.

Liam Neeson Arrives At 'The A-Team' Premiere In Trademark Van, Others On Tank

June 4th, 2010 11:15am EDT
A-Team Van
The A-Team's Liam Neeson busted into premiere in the classic van last night, making an entrance suitable for the testosterone-fueled movie he's promoting. Even the giant tank carrying Sharlto Copley and Bradley Cooper to the red carpet couldn't upstage the 80's vehicular icon.

Neeson said on his part as Hannibal: "Just be physical, fight, run, say a couple of lines, chomp of cigars - it was cool!"

Bradley Cooper joked about his role, Face. "The curriculum for this guy was pretty intense." He says later "[My favorite part] is the guns. I probably shouldn't say it, but I really fell in ...
