Interview: 'Our Idiot Brother' Director Jesse Peretz On Paul Rudd, Emotional Truths And What He Loves Doing Most
When one thinks of actor Paul Rudd these days, comedy definitely comes to mind. But in the new Rudd outing "Our Idiot Brother" (out now on DVD/Blu-ray from The Weinstein Company and Anchor Bay Entertainment), thanks to Director Jesse Peretz there is also a definite dramatic sweetness that adds a unique touch to the surprisingly endearing film. The movie tells the story of joyful idealist Ned (played by Rudd) who ends up newly involved in the lives of his three very different but equally uptight sisters, played by Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel and Emil Mortimer. Add to that a supportin...

Scruffy idealist Ned (Paul Rudd) wreaks havoc on the lives of his mother (Shirley Knight) and three sisters, Miranda (Elizabeth Banks), Natalie (Zooey Deschanel), and Liz (Emily Mortimer), while overstaying his welcome in each of their homes and voicing his opinions when they aren't wanted in "Our Idiot Brother."
Organic farmer Ned always looks for the best in everyone, but his unfailing honesty continually lands him in hot water. Arrested for selling drugs to a uniformed police officer, Ned gets the boot from his girlfriend, and mourns losing custody of his beloved dog, Willie Nels...

Steve Coogan Cameo Boosts Student Film
British funnyman Steve Coogan has giving a budding director a boost by agreeing to appear in his student movie.
Liam Hooper is shooting a $1,600 film for his A-Level exams in the U.K., and tried his luck by sending off the script to the Night at the Museum star.
And the 17 year old was stunned when Coogan replied, asking for a cameo in the project.
Hooper tells Britain's Daily Mirror, "I thought he might like my tongue-in-cheek script. But I never thought he'd agree to take part. All I can say is he appears at a pivotal moment."

Two Jews' Review 'Our Idiot Brother' And Only One Gets The Joke (Video)
'Two Jews On Film' By Joan Alperin-Schwartz: Paul Rudd is Ned Rochlin, an organic farmer, who sees the good in everyone. So when a policeman comes up to him at a local Farmers Market and begs Ned to sell him some weed, he's only too happy to oblige. After all, Ned felt sorry for the cop, who said he was suffering from job-related stress. Now what does Ned get for this act of compassion? He gets busted and sent to prison, of course. After all, this is a comedy...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Super 8, 'Judy Moody And the Not Bummer Summer,' & More
This weekend, I finally had the opportunity to see the Paul Feig comedy “Bridesmaids” starring Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph. Because the trailers just made it seem like a female version of “The Hangover,” I was not incredibly enthused to see it at first. When I actually watched it though, I was thoroughly impressed by the strength of the story (written by Wiig and Annie Mumolo) and the universal appeal of the humor despite the dominance of female characters.
Wiig’s Annie, is a down-on-her-luck character: her dream bakery failed in the struggling economy and as a result, she can barely a...

Bosses of British motoring TV show Top Gear have decided to cut a scene of the hosts mocking Mexicans before it is aired in America.
Presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May came under fire from London's Mexican ambassador Eduardo Medina Mora after making jibes about his countrymen during a program broadcast in the U.K. last month.
In the section of the show, the presenters discussed a Mexican sports car and Hammond told viewers, "Why would you want a Mexican car? Because cars reflect national characteristics, don't they? Mexican cars are just going to be lazy, feckless...

This Week's Movie Buzz: See It, Rent It, Or Skip It?
The first three weeks of the summer movie season started out a bit slow, but from here the momentum really starts to build. There's a spike in the number of movies premiering with six coming out this week, two of which are sequels. One of those sequels is a movie I've been anticipating since I heard it was in development. Hint: it involves giant robots, and it's not "Transformers 2."
Opening in cinemas this week are "Terminator Salvation," "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian," "Dance Flick," "Easy Virtue," "The Girlfriend Experience," and "The Boys: The Sherman Brothers...

Early Oscar Predictions
With today's release of the Coen Brothers' "Burn After Reading" we can officially declare Oscar season open.
The movie has everything that Oscar loves: big stars who are actually good actors (three of them Oscar winners), an Oscar pedigree team behind the scenes, and a release in the fall. While this broad comedy may not exactly be Oscar bait, it does serve as a good line of demarcation between films released purely for profit and those released to win awards (and mostly to make money).
Even though a large majority of awards contenders are released in the fall, there are always a...

Interview: Comedian Steve Coogan Rocks Sexy Jesus Character in 'Hamlet 2'
(HollywoodChicago.com) – Steve Coogan is a British comedy icon. Forging a career from creating an array of characters, though, he’s not as well known in America (except to BBC cultists).
He brings this talent for characterization to the lead role of an American high school drama teacher in the new film “Hamlet 2”. Coogan adds some peculiar quirks to the depiction of the clueless soul who seemingly will do anything to project his dramatic “vision”.
