John Travolta's attorney Marty Singer has slammed allegations the actor groped his late "Grease" co-star Jeff Conaway during an awkward encounter six years ago.

Singer issued a statement to Eonline.com: "This spate of recklessly published tabloid stories is just part of a malicious tabloid agenda to boost lagging sales by running outrageous defamatory stories about my client sourced by people seeking notoriety or a payday."

The Los Angeles County Coroner has declared Grease star Jeff Conaway's death an accident after a four month investigation into the tragedy.

The actor died a day after he was taken off life support in May. He was 60.

Conaway was hospitalized at Encino Hospital Medical Center after he was found unconscious at his home in California.

The actor's spokesman Phil Brock revealed he was found with a cocktail of "painkillers and cold medicine in his system", and doctors went on to diagnose him with pneumonia and sepsis, a potentially fatal blood poisoning caused by a bacterial infection.

The 60 year old, who played rocker Kenickie in the hit 1978 movie musical Grease, has famously battled problems with cocaine, painkillers and alcohol, and is in critical condition at Encino Hospital Medical Center, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Victoria Spinoza filed papers at Los Angeles Superior Court last month applying for an injunction against her former partner.
