Two Jews' Reviews 'Harry Potter & Deathly Hallows-Part 2': One Gives Standing 'O' To Final Epic Adventure (Video)

July 14th, 2011 12:00pm EDT
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
'Two Jews on Film' By Joan Alperin Schwartz: 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Part 2' is the final adventure in the 'Harry Potter' series. The film is directed brilliantly by David Yates and cleverly adapted for the screen by Steve Klos.

This is not only the last film in the franchise, but it is the best.

From the first shot...where we see Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) holding his sword up to the darkened sky, followed by Severus Snape (Alan Rickman) staring out into the gloomy courtyard at Hogwarts, you know...you're in for one great ride.

For those of you who haven't read the books ...

June 27th, 2011 10:04am EDT
Brave
Disney/Pixar’s collaborations are known to be heartwarming and cheerful, films that are cherished by the entire family. Only one film is released by the partnership each year, and what 2012 has in store is going to be quite a departure from their typical repertoire.

Set to release July 22, 2012, “Brave” is centered around a Scottish princess, Merida, who brings trouble to her kingdom and sets out on a journey accompanied by the kingdom's three lords to restore peace.

What sets this film apart from previous ones is the seemingly darker quality that is present. Unlike the lighter moods ...

Harry Potter has eluded me. I've never been one for ogres and fairies and magic and more. It seemed to me that anything involving magic was a cop out, as any problem could be solved by saying "Thank God we have the magical ______!"

That said, I have heard over and over again how wonderful this series is. So I'm watching all the HP movies and critiquing them leading up to the release of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1."

Three More Harry Potter Books In The Works?

October 2nd, 2010 4:30pm EDT
J.K. Rowling
"Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling is still refusing to rule out the possibility of expanding the boy wizard franchise, despite releasing the final installment, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," in 2007.

"I could definitely write an eighth, ninth, tenth. I'm not going to say I won't. I don't think I will, I feel I am done, but you never know."

The writer previously hinted about the return of Potter in April.

Rowling also credits the death of her mother with inspiring her to complete the first Potter book - because there would be no boy wizard if she didn't experience such grief.

"Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe fears he won't be the last kid to play the boy wizard - he has a sneaking suspicion the franchise will be re-imagined for a new generation when he's in his 50s.

The young Brit worries that movie executives won't be able to resist remaking the Potter films as J.K. Rowling's hit books continue to top bestseller lists around the world.

He tells Entertainment Weekly magazine, "The books will be around for decades to come which makes me wonder if, in 30 years time, we will be seeing remakes of all these movies.
