ABC’s new fall show No Ordinary Family is aimed at the ordinary family. In the first episode, a suburban family of four obtains super powers in a plane crash. They return to their normal lives with the powers of strength, speed, mind reading and genius. Michael Chiklis plays the strong father.

However, the trend in recent years has been to flip that formula around by taking a big-screen hit and trying to turn it into a small-stage sensation.

Disney has had great success with its theatrical adaptations, starting in 1994 with the critically-acclaimed "Beauty and the Beast." The hits kept coming with stage productions of "The Lion King," "Mary Poppins," and, most recently, "The Little Mermaid."

Series Finale of '7th Heaven' Set For May

After 11 seasons, 7th Heaven is bidding adieu, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The series finale, “And Away We Go,” will air May 13 at 8 p.m. The tenth season was initially slated to be its last until the newly formed network CW picked it up from WB last year.

7th Heaven debuted in August 1996 on WB. It centers on a minister (Stephen Collins) and his large family.

Last week fans of 7th Heaven learned that this will be the last season for the Camden clan. But the show’s executives plan on giving the series a “monumental” send-off.
