36 Celebs That Are Out And Proud

July 9th, 2014 8:00am EDT
36 Celebs That Are Out And Proud
For so many years, celebrities had to hide their sexuality. Afraid of not getting work or keeping the jobs they already had, so many men and women of music, television and movies lived closeted and non-authentic lives. Today, these talented individuals use their sexuality not only as a platform for truth, but also as a way to assist other young people to be true to themselves and not live a life in fear. Some may surprise you, others are well-known to the LGBT community. Their stories instill hope that sexuality will become less of an issue then living an inspired life.

Glee fans were shocked today when star Chris Colfer tweeted out of the blue that he would not appear in the upcoming and final season of the hit show. But there's more than meets the eye.

Colfer tweeted today at 1 PM, "Due to personal issues, I have been let go from the cast of GLEE. Explanations will come shortly." That sparked a firestorm of stories wondering why Colfer left the show (or was "let go") and what these "personal issues" were all about.

On this week's "Glee", McKinley gets serious and goes unplugged when a power outage causes the lights in the school to shut off and the Glee clubbers to open up. Ryder shares that he was molested at a child by a teenage babysitter and it has since affected his ability to trust women. Sam and Artie think it's "every teenage boy's fantasy" and completely underestimate the seriousness of the situation. Kitty understands him though - at a dinner at Breadstix with Ryder, she confesses that she was molested by a friend's older brother when she was in sixth grade. The fallout from her trauma was s...

'Glee' Season 4: 5 Spoilers You Need To Know

I have an intense love-hate relationship with FOX’s musical juggernaut, “Glee.” While I appreciate the diversity of the cast and how it tackles controversial and important issues like bullying, self-acceptance and sexuality in a surrealistic, unapologetic, and sometimes hilarious way, I am confounded by its spastic, uneven storytelling and the way it continually ignores some characters to focus on the dramas of others. With that said, this summer has been much less melodious without the sparkly musical fun that is “Glee.” The Sept. 13 premiere is fast approaching, so here are five spoile...

Notes From Tribeca: 'Glee' Fans Check Out Chris Colfer's 'Struck By Lighting,' And More

April 25th, 2012 4:58pm EDT
Struck By Lightning
There are many great films this year at Tribeca, though I’m still waiting for the one. This morning I attended the press screening of Struck By Lightning, written and directed by Glee’s Chris Colfer. The story, about a teenager navigating high school while dealing with a manic-depressive mother and building anxiety of one particular college acceptance letter during the final days of his life (got that?),was well-written and terrifically acted.

Though the execution of the story is a bit soft, there is no denying that Colfer will continue to be a dynamic star for years to come. I recommend...

She was swiftly followed by Twilight hunk Taylor Lautner, who was gunged as he picked up the prize for favorite Butt Kicker, and award presenter Chris Colfer.

Golden Globe Nominations: Snubs And Surprises

‘Tis the season… for Ricky Gervais to make nasty jokes and make Robert Downy Jr. blush…. Fa la la la la la la la la. That’s right, the Golden Globe nominations were announced this morning. There were a few surprises, a few snubs, and a few nominees that make you go, “Hmmmm”? Let’s break it down by Movie and TV categories.

Films like 'The Artist' and 'The Help' dominated, not surprisingly.

The most surprising inclusion here? ‘The Ides of March,’ which up ‘til now was considered an also-ran in awards season. But the film picked up nods for Best Drama, Best Director (George Clooney),...

'Glee' Recap: It's Mash-Up Week!

November 16th, 2011 9:50am EST
Glee 305
It seems like ‘Glee’ has just decided to pretend last week’s West Side Virgin Story never happened. Thank goodness! What a relief it is to jump right back into election season and age-inappropriate relationships! Puck leads the boys in a sexually charged performance of Van Halen’s “Hot for Teacher” within the first five minutes of the episode and it's clear that we can put 'The First Time' behind us and have some fun this week.

The good news gets even better when Ms. Corcoran , who has nice scenes with just about every single character in this show, speaks to Mr. Schue about keeping their...

'Glee' Recap: Virgin Scorecard

Glee Rachel and Blaine
Like Sandra Dee, this week’s ‘Glee’ was lousy with virginity. Expectations were high after promos showed Rachel, Finn, Kurt and Blaine all getting their sexy on… but as it happened, ‘The First Time’ was kind of disappointing.

Unfortunately, West Side Story just doesn’t lend itself to this theme the way Madonna does. The season one tribute to the Queen of Pop covered similar territory and featured “Like a Virgin,” the most perfect song for the occasion. More importantly, the subject of de-flowering came up naturally and organically. Conversely, this week’s sudden sexual awakening isn’t moti...

Glee bosses have been accused of "gross recklessness" by angry activists for depicting sex between high school students in the hit show.

Conservative watchdogs at the Parents Television Council (PTC) have targeted TV chiefs for showing intimate scenes between two young couples, including one straight and one gay pairing, in an episode entitled The First Time, which aired on Tuesday.

PTC president Tim Winter says, "The fact that Glee intends to not only broadcast, but celebrate children having sex is reprehensible. The gender of the high school characters involved is irrelevant. Teen sex...

After yielding its timeslot to Major League Baseball for the past few weeks, “Glee” returned last night with an hour of leprechauns, cougars, and congressional candidates. The second of four new cast members that will, at some point, be transplanted from the Oxygen Channel’s competitive reality show to the Fox flagship, McGinty was front and center in his inaugural appearance as foreign exchange student, Rory...

Wishes Of A Television-aholic: 'Glee'

Believe it or not, this television-aholic actually scoffed at the early promos of what would come to be FOX’s mega-hit, “Glee.” The show looked silly and childish, and I thought it would be cancelled before the fourth episode. My initial assumptions were glaringly and wonderfully wrong. “Glee” is the television equivalent of cotton candy—brightly colored, lighthearted and achingly sweet. It makes me feel inspired and happy while most of my favorite shows make me want to curl up in the fetal position and ugly-cry.

Unfortunately, the last season was a little more sour than sweet thanks t...

We made it! ‘Glee’ is in NYC to compete at Nationals and conclude a chart-topping, show-stopping, star-studded, post-Super Bowl time-slot scoring second season.

True to form, our favorite fictional show choir is in a situation that is about as absurd as the Broadway-obsessed Rachel Berry thinking that CATS is still open for business. New Directions has come to Nationals without a song or a set list and now they need to write a couple of hits in as many overstuffed hotel rooms.
