 Graham ChapmanLooks Like Another Brown Trouser Job Release Date 2006 04 04 Label Rykodisc Rating:  Its a wonder that Monty Python's Graham Chapman lived as long as he did, (he died at the age of 48 in 1989), considering his outrageous consumption of alcohol, membership in the Dangerous Sports Club and a soused friendship with Keith Moon. It's a pleasure listening to Chapman reminisce about the aforementioned lunacy, and of course, numerous Python tidbits on Looks Like Another Brown Trouser Job (a reference to the Dangerous Sports Club). Recorded in April 1988 while Chapman was on the college lecture circuit, he was initially leery of talking in front of an audience due to intense stage fright which he acknowledges in breezy Pythonesque manner on &"30 Seconds of Abuse." While listening to this CD, it becomes apparent that he quickly overcame any nervousness as his genuine laid-back ease continually shines through. Originally released as Six Pack of Lies on the U.K. label Magnum, the sound quality was horribly muddy. Thankfully, that problem has been cleaned up by Rykodisc. A few of the bits from the Magnum release have been replaced, but the quality and the interview segment at the end is worth the omissions. The only real complaint with the Rykodisc edition is the final two tracks, which are cheesy instrumentals with Chapman quipping over the top -- completely unnecessary! Al Campbell, Rovi |
