Richard Chamberlain became a very famous actor thru his fine work in TV's "Dr. Kildare". Chamberlain was a member of the famous MGM stock company of famous players in the l960's along with George Peppard, Paula Prentiss, Jim Hutton, Yvette Mimieux, George Hamilton and Luana Patten. MGM groomed Chamberlain thru the Kildare TV series and also in a series of films shot at MGM during Chamberlain's hiatus from "Dr. Kildare". At one time it was reported that Richard Chamberlain at MGM received as much fan mail 15,000 letters per week as Clark Gable at his peak at MGM. Some of the MGM films were "Joy In the Morning" with Yvette Mimieux and two other excellent films a western "A Thunder of Drums" with George Hamilton and Luana Patten, a very fine courtoom drama "Twilight of Honor". MGM surrounded Chamberlain in these films with fine talent such as Claude Rains, and Richard Boone, et al. Chamberlain has gone on to worldwide acclaim for taking great risks and appearing in Shakespearean plays, Broadway Musicals such as "Sound of Music" andmajor films such as "Petulia", "The Three Musketeers","The Madwoman of Chaillot", and "Towering Inferno". Chamberlain in his long career has worked with Katharine Hepburn, Yul Brynner, Julie Christie, Faye Dunaway, Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, Jennifer Jones, et al One of his finest performances is that of the bio of Swedish hero Raoul Wallenberg. A major leading Man, and recognized Actor by his peers. | ||

| He was superb in THE THORNBIRDS, and is a marvelous actor. A welcome male addition to DESPARATE HOUSEWIVES if they're able to sign him on for the long term. | ||

| Have been a fan since Dr. Kildare and have seen all the appearances on TV and in movies, as well as several of the stage plays. Was in his fan club during Dr. Kildare and still have dozens of memoribilia from his Dr. K days. I even have near mint copies of all 4 albums. Saw every performance of My Fair Lady when it stopped in Pittsburgh in the 1990s. Thought Dr. Quartermain movies were great but overshadowed by Harrison Ford's. No one ever mentions that RC was engaged just after Dr. K but it was broken off, at which time he went to England for the theatre. He was very successful in not ever being linked with any leading lady or other beautiful (or otherwise) lady, either in or out of the theater. Appeared on Live with Regis and Kathy Lee shortly before she left and copies of all 4 of his albums were shown and he groaned. | ||
