David Carradine's Widow Reaches Settlement Over Neglect Lawsuit

August 17th, 2011 8:10pm EDT
David Carradine
David Carradine's widow has settled a lawsuit in which she accused production bosses behind the tragic actor's final movie of neglect - after he died while shooting on location in Thailand.

The Kill Bill star, 72, was found hanging in the closet of his Bangkok hotel room in June, 2009. Investigators ruled the actor had died of accidental asphyxiation during a dangerous solo sex game.

Carradine, who had been filming the movie Stretch at the time of his death, had been left in his hotel room after an assistant assigned to look after him went for dinner with production staff after he failed ...

David Carradine's Ad-Lib Chills Producer Of 'Night Of The Templar'

July 2nd, 2011 11:15am EDT
David Carradine
Actor/director Paul Sampson is still chilled by the climax of his new horror movie "Night Of The Templar" because it features a prophetic line from his late friend David Carradine.

The star plays a reincarnated medieval knight in the film, his last completed project before he died from sexual misadventure in a Thai hotel room in 2009.

And, as Sampson, who wrote, directed and stars in the movie, prepares to offer the finished cut to studios, he still can't believe Carradine's ad-lib at the end of the film.

He tells WENN, "On the last moment of the movie, we're walking off together, arm-in...

Review: 'True Legend' Suffers From Identity Crisis

May 12th, 2011 11:00am EDT
True Legend photo
"True Legend" is a glorious looking piece of cinema that suffers from an unfortunately equally glaring identity crisis. Is it a historical action drama, a revenge flick, a tale about rising to impossible challenges or maybe just a strange, mythical, drunken fighting kung fu picture with all the trimmings? The answer is a blend of all of the above – and the resulting hard to swallow mixture is disappointingly uneven and tedious.

The film starts off well enough with a captivating staging of a bloody medieval battle that perfectly sets the mood of a dark and brooding wartime. Head military...

David Carradine's ex-wife Marina Anderson has revealed all about the late "Kung Fu" star's kinky sex preferences in her new memoirs, confessing he almost choked her to death during intercourse.

The actress thought long and hard about exposing intimate details of her bedroom antics with the star in her book "David Carradine: The Eye of My Tornado," especially after Thai police ruled the actor died of accidental asphyxiation alone in June, 2009, performing a solo sex act, in a hotel room.

But she felt Carradine's sex habits were central to their six-year relationship and three-year marriage...

Shocking music deaths
Heart attacks. Plane crashes. Car crashes. Drug overdoses. Murder. Over the years, these have become some of the most common causes of the often shocking deaths in the music industry. On a lighter note, some might argue that even ham sandwiches have been involved.

Regardless of the cause, take a look back at these musical icons that have left us way, way, way too soon - yet have left us with legacies that will live on forever. The majority of these deaths, in addition to being sudden and shocking, were in some way either ironic or just completely messed up. Rock on...

This Week's Movie Buzz: See It, Rent It, Or Skip It?

April 13th, 2009 8:57am EDT
17 Again
I must admit that two weeks ago, I grossly underestimated how popular "Fast & Furious" would be. The film captured the title of highest grossing opening weekend for a car-themed movie by taking in $72.5 million. I think it's important to note this, because I believe I'm an excellent judge of movies, but I admit the movies I recommend will not always reflect the average American movie patron's opinion.

STATE OF PLAY

Things seem to be perfect for up-and-coming U.S. congressman Stephen Collins (Ben Affleck), until the murder of his research assistant and mistress. It becomes ...

In Purely Exploiting Gratuitous Violence, 'Death Race' Remake Kills All Comedic Value

August 22nd, 2008 4:08pm EDT
Death Race
(HollywoodChicago) – While 2008’s “Death Race” makes no secret about being a remake of 1975’s “Death Race 2000” with David Carradine as the title character Frankenstein and Sylvester Stallone as his archrival Machine Gun Joe Viterbo, what’s perhaps less obvious but still clear when you read between the lines is how the film steals from others.

Though the story had a different book cover, Jason Statham’s character as Jensen Ames and then the masked Frankenstein can be directly correlated to (as just one example) Nicolas Cage’s character in 1997’s “Con Air”. We’ve certainly seen this bef...

The Best & Worst Films By Quentin Tarantino

April 24th, 2008 8:30am EDT
Quentin Tarantino
The serendipitous career of eccentric movie producer, director and writer Quentin Tarantino is a complex one. Tarantino has made a name for himself by creating nonlinear storylines and filming multiple perspectives from different characters in his movies - a technique that strays from the more commonly used straight-time storyline.

His films are not off the wall, but they invoke an element of surprise that comes from the small details within a scene that catches one off guard and by adding mysterious elements that never get explained. A good example of this was in Pulp Fiction when M...
