The Social Network
‘The Social Network’ was the big winner at Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards, with four awards – Best Drama, Best Director (David Fincher), Best Screenplay (Aaron Sorkin) and Best Score. 'The King’s Speech' – which led in nominations with seven – came away with just one win, for Best Drama Actor (Colin Firth).

‘The Kids Are All Right’ re-emerged in the Oscar race with two wins (Best Comedy – and how could it NOT win that given the competition?) and Best Comedy Actress for Annette Bening (ditto). And ‘The Fighter’ takes the lead in the supporting races, with Christian Bale and Melissa Leo ...

TV On DVD: 'ER: The Complete Fourteenth Season'

January 11th, 2011 8:00am EST
ER
Today sees the release of ER: The Complete Fourteenth Season from Warner Home Video. It's the longrunning medical drama's next-to-last season, presented in a five-disc, nineteen-episode set (this is the year that was abbreviated by the Writers Guild of America strike). Take a look with me inside the latest volume of cases and complications at Chicago's County General.

The Show

When ER was on, I was never a fan; I much preferred its competition, Chicago Hope. However, much like that series did an abrupt crash and burn in its final season, the fourteenth season of ER is not its finest -...

December 15th, 2010 11:00am EST
Milla Jovovich
Milla Jovovich attended the Los Angeles premiere of "Biutiful" wearing an African-print dress. Despite being low cut, the very baggy dress does nothing for her figure. What do you think?

Milla stars in the upcoming film "Keep Coming Back" in which a sheltered teenager with a weak heart discovers that there is more to life than he ever imagined when he becomes smitten with a world-weary, alcoholic ex-stripper.

Milla stars as the exotic dancer who becomes charmed by the infatuated teen's naïveté, with Mos Def, Steve Buscemi, and William H. Macy rounding out the cast of this coming-of-age d...

Steve Buscemi Breaks Ribs In Bicycle Accident

September 13th, 2010 2:24pm EDT
Steve Buscemi
Actor Steve Buscemi spent his summer nursing two broken ribs following a bicycle accident in his native Brooklyn, New York.

The Reservoir Dogs star hopped on a bike for the first time in years to tour the French countryside on holiday with his wife Jo Andres, and returned home inspired to get fit.

He says, "I thought, 'This is great! When I get back to Brooklyn I'm gonna get back on my bike - I haven't ridden in years - and I'm gonna get back in shape.'"

However, his new exercise regime ground to a quick halt - and put him in the hospital with a pair of broken ribs.

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Shutter Island,' 'The Ghost Writer,'

TRAILER TALK: THIS WEEK IN MOVIES 2/14/10
Last week I caught Steve Buscemi's dark comedy "St. John of Las Vegas" which was slightly disappointing. While the right brand of humor was there; twisted laughs and awkward moments that inspire chuckles

, I felt that the film did not have much to say.

The overarching story seemed to be building up to some kind of life altering self-realization or dramatic event taking place in Las Vegas for Buscemi's character John Alighieri. This moment never really came, and as a result the entire film seemed very anti-climactic.

Buscemi and Romany Malco make a hilarious team, as Malco's chara...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies -'When in Rome,' 'Edge of Darkness' & More

January 25th, 2010 10:59am EST
Edge of Darkness
I took a break from the movies last week, since nothing in theaters was particularly calling out to me as worthwhile. Instead I saw a release on video I wanted to catch: the new "Family Guy" "Star Wars" parody "Something Something Something Dark Side." I found "Dark Side" to be pretty hilarious, although perhaps not quite as novel as "Blue Harvest." As a lifelong "Star Wars" fan, I've always had an appreciation for shows and movies that deftly lampoon the series.

This last week in January Kristen Bell portrays a workaholic skeptical about love in the romantic comedy "When in Rome," Me...

Best Movies Set In Cold Locations

Fargo
Often times, weather plays an integral role in films, whether it be that it helps to set the tone, has symbolic significance, or makes a kissing scene all the more steamy, like the passionate lip-lock between Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams in "The Notebook" (2004), whose sexiness skyrocketed thanks to it taking place during a downpour. Sometimes the weather even takes on a life of its own, like in the film "Twister" (1996), in which the tornado acts as just as much of a protagonist as both Helen Hunt's and Bill Paxton's characters.

So now, with winter officially getting its frosty self...

Five Tremendous Quentin Tarantino Films

Tarantino's films have had a profound impact on those that have an appreciation for cinema. His use of excessive violence as a form of social commentary, his references to classic movies, and his nontraditional narrative structure has remarkably influenced modern moviemaking since he hit the scene in the early 1990s.

In Hollywood, you've got show-stopping performances and eye-popping beauties. But what about those Hollywood beauties whose eyes just pop? Some celebrities are recognized by their plunger lips, or by their adorable pair of dimples, while others are distinguished by their bulging peepers. The bug-eye feature is very hit or miss, however. On one hand, bug-eyes have the ability to create unconventional gorgeosity in a person, but on the other hand, they are also capable of making good faces go Muppet.

Christina Ricci falls into the former category of bug-eyed celebrities. Her sizeable...

It's rare that commercials are actually right, but today they are when they claim that a film based on the "Most-Acclaimed Graphic Novel of All Time" will be released.

That film, and novel, is "Watchmen" of course. The movie comes from the 12-part comic series from Alan Moore ("From Hell", "V for Vendetta") that was quickly packaged into a graphic novel upon its completion. Many consider this series the greatest in the history of comics and the subsequent novel actually made it onto Time Magazine's 100 Greatest Novels of the Century List. Needless to say, there's no doubting its acc...
