Krysten Ritter's career has been given a boost by Tim Burton after the eccentric director cast her in his new movie Big Eyes.
The actress' U.S. sitcom Don't Trust The B---- In Apartment 23 was dropped by bosses at America's ABC network earlier this year (13), but she has now landed her dream role in the upcoming biographical drama.
The movie focuses on Margaret and Walter Keane, the married couple whose kitch paintings of large-eyed children became one of the first mass-marketed art sensations of the 1950s and 1960s.

Winona Ryder: 'I Credit Tim Burton With My Whole Career'
Winona Ryder credits Tim Burton with her entire career, insisting she knew she had met a kindred spirit when they became instant pals during their first meeting.
Ryder landed her big break playing kooky teenager Lydia Deetz in Burton's huge hit Beetlejuice in 1988 and went on to appear in Edward Scissorhands and the filmmaker's latest project, Frankenweenie.
The star is adamant her huge success as an actress is down to her friendship with the quirky director.

2012 Summer Blockbusters - The Winners & The Losers
Sometimes the task of getting people to flock to the movie theatres during the summer months can be tricky, as some would rather soak up the rays from the sun instead of those coming from the projector. But if the soothing sensation of a cool, dark room isn't enough to attract the audience, what is? Here's a recap of this summer's hits and misses at the box office.
The season kicked off big time with "The Avengers," which brought in a record $207.4 million during its first weekend. Performances by stars such as Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson brought life to Iron Man,...

Great Actor/Director Combos For The Release Of 'Dark Shadows'
Every artist has their muse, whether it be human, imaginary, or in some cases, drug induced. And while certainly some people might joke that the latter is Tim Burton's muse of choice, given the stye and subject of many of his films, it's become quite clear over the years that he draws inspiration from the people he surrounds himself with. Most notable among them are Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp.
Given that his newest film, "Dark Shadows", marks Burton and Depp's 8th film collaboration, we at Starpulse decided to take a look at some of the other actor/director partnerships that hav...

'Dark Shadows' Is Fun & Campy Despite A One-Note Performance From Johnny Depp
For those of you, like myself, who aren't familiar with the television series 'Dark Shadows' which ran from 1966-1971, here are the film's cliff notes:
The year is 1750 (give or take) and a wealthy young man named Barnabus Collins (Johnny Depp) gets it on with his maid Angelique (Eva Green), who just happens to be a witch. She feels the love... Him… not so much. The witch gets pissed, turns Barnabus into a vampire, locks him in a coffin and then buries him deep in the ground.
Still not satisfied, Angelique kills Barnabus's one true love as well as his parents and then she spends the next ...

Tim Burton And Johnny Depp's 'Dark Shadows' Past
Are you familiar with the story of Dark Shadows? It was originally a late afternoon supernatural soap opera that ran on the ABC TV network from 1966 to 1971. Some 1,225 episodes were shot during Dark Shadows run and if you were a teenager during that time, you probably rushed home each day after school to catch it.
Directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp, the 2012 reboot of the cult classic seemed to be a dream job for both Burton and Depp. Tim Burton has publically stated that he was a big fan of the TV series and as a child Deep was obsessed with the show and main character Barna...

Johnny Depp Needed Help Going To The Bathroom On 'Dark Shadows' Set
Johnny Depp’s latest character, Barnabas Collins, required another dramatic physical transformation. The vampire from TV’s Dark Shadows is painted pale white, walks with a cane and has long vampire fingernails. So too does Johnny Depp in the film versions.
“In every film that I’ve been lucky enough to do with Tim [Burton], there’s always some form of torture, and the nails were Tim’s idea,” Depp said. “They were the length of the fingers and stuff, but it was okay because I had a troop of people who would help me go to the bathroom. They had to have treatment afterwards but they’re okay no...

Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Steven Tyler & More Celebs Attend 'Dark Shadows' Premiere
Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows" hits theaters on Friday, and several celebrities attended the red carpet premiere in Los Angeles on Monday.
The film centers on an imprisoned vampire, Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp), who is set free and returns to his ancestral home in the 1970s.
Depp wore a brown suit that matched his hair, and he accesorized with several necklaces (we can't expect him ever to go the traditional route with a tie.)
Aerosmith rocker and "American Idol" judge Steven Tyler also wore several chains around his neck. But all eyes were drawn to his funky bellbottom pants.

Michelle Pfieffer Begged Tim Burton For 'Dark Shadows' Role
Michelle Pfeiffer was so desperate to star in the big screen remake of her favorite show Dark Shadows she pleaded director Tim Burton for a part.
The actress was a huge fan of the cult 1960s TV series growing up, and when she heard her Batman Returns director was overseeing the remake she took matters into her own hands and made a groveling phone call.
Nevertheless, Pfeiffer was forced to wait for a year before finally getting the go-ahead to play Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, the matriarch of a vampire family.
She tells Empire magazine, "I was really uncomfortable doing it and I don't ...

Tim Burton's Balloon To Float At Thanksgiving Day Parade
Movie maker Tim Burton has created a giant balloon for next month's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.
His B. Boy will float alongside Garfield and Snoopy inflatables.
Burton admits he was "surprised" to be asked to be a part of the annual parade, which takes over the streets of the Big Apple, and he jumped at the chance to create a balloon.
He tells USA Today B. Boy was inspired by the thought of unwanted balloons left behind at children's parties at the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, that dream of being able to fly free.
