'Roots' Remake In The Works

A remake of the highly successful U.S. TV miniseries Roots is in development at America's History Channel network.

TV executives have acquired the rights to Alex Haley's 1976 book, Roots: The Saga of an American Family, which inspired the epic 1977 series, starring LeVar Burton as slave Kunta Kinte.

Roots collected nine Emmy Awards and 37 nominations, as well as a Golden Globe and a Peabody Award. It spawned two sequels and the finale is still the third-highest-rated U.S. TV programme ever.

LeVar Burton files lawsuit against public relations firm

Actor Levar Burton has filed a lawsuit against a New York public relations firm.

The Star Trek: The Next Generation veteran hired bosses at Child's Play Communications in 2011 to help promote an iPad application, which encourages youngsters to read, but he claims they botched the job and still charged him $10,000 (£6,452)-a-month for their services.

Burton has now filed legal documents in Manhattan, seeking $50,000 (£32,258) in damages, according to the New York Post.

Levar Burton Hospitalized After Car Crash

Levar Burton Hospitalized
Star Trek: The Next Generation star Levar Burton is recovering after he was involved in a car crash on Monday night.

The 52 year old was traveling in a vehicle in Los Angeles when it collided with another car.

Burton and the other driver were both taken to a local hospital to be treated for "what appeared to be minor injuries," according to TMZ.com.

No further details were available as WENN went to press.
