Levar Burton's 'Reading Rainbow' Kickstarter Makes More Than $6
When LeVar Burton launched his Kickstarter project to bring "Reading Rainbow" back to the world's children, he did it with the hopes that he would raise $1 million in donations. When he received that amount within the span of 24 hours, Burton set another goal: $5 million. "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane offered to match any donations made after $4 million in the project's final five days.

In fact, the former "Star Trek: The Next Generation" actor raised a total of $5,408,916 for the campaign and with MacFarlane's million dollar promise, the total reached for the Kickstarter campaign...

Seth MacFarlane Supports LeVar Burton's Reading Rainbow Kickstar
In May, former "Star Trek: The Next Generation" actor LeVar Burton started a Kickstarter to bring back his wildly popular show "Reading Rainbow". He raised over $1 million in the span of 24 hours, and the donations have not stopped. To reach more schools in need, Burton upped the ante to raising $5 million for the program.

In its final five days, "Ted" director Seth MacFarlane has stepped in to help close the gap in donations. He has offered to match every donation made to the program's revival - up to $1 million!

Levar Burton's 'Reading Rainbow' Kickstarter Campaign Raises $1
Levar Burton's campaign to bring back "Reading Rainbow" exceeded expectations. The actor raised $1 million for the program in less than 24 hours.

The former "Star Trek: The Next Generation" star launched a Kickstarter campaign on Wednesday to bring back the popular children's show that he hosted from 1983 until 2005.

The crowdfunding campaign raised over $1 million in just 10 hours and is currently standing at $1.6 million.
