Review: Sci-Fi Thriller 'Lockout' Falls To Earth (Video)

April 10th, 2012 1:00pm EDT
Lockout
The year is 2079 and in this so-called Sci-Fi futuristic thriller, entitled 'Lockout', 500 of the most violent criminals are kept in a state of suspended animation on a space station orbiting above earth. This high tech penitentiary is known as MS One.

I say so-called, because the sleeping prisoners are the only aspect of this film that can be deemed 'futuristic' or even, 'Sci-Fi.'

The film was written (along with Luc Besson) and directed by James Mather and Stephen St. Leger, who I guess are famous for a 15 minute short called 'Prey Alone.'

Guy Pearce plays Agent Snow, who has been se...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'The Cabin In The Woods,' 'Three Stooges' & More

April 9th, 2012 1:00pm EDT
Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies
My high hopes for the fourth “American Pie” movie were dashed after I saw “American Reunion.” There was plenty of 90s nostalgia and some of the trademark humor that you love from the franchise, but on the whole the film was pretty depressing. For more of my thoughts, check out the full review.

Dropping in at the box office this week are the Joss Whedon penned horror film “The Cabin in the Woods,” the modern-day take on a classic comedy trio in “The Three Stooges,” the action packed sci-fi movie “Lockout,” the African American kidnapping thriller “Woman Thou Art Loosed: On the 7th Day,” ...

“Which one’s Trudi? The one with all the sh#t in her face?” “No, that’s Jody. That’s my wife.” And so we are introduced to Eric Stoltz’s bitter better half Rosanna Arquette in Quentin Tarantino’s famed iconic runaway smash. That’ right fans, the five-star "Pulp Fiction" is finally hitting Blu-ray Oct. 4 from Lionsgate (check out the review below!) and we thought we’d celebrate it’s release with some one-on-one interview time with the fabulous Trudy 'sixteen piercings all done with a needle' gal herself Rosanna Arquette. We chatted with the lovely Rosanna about all things Pulp includin...

Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies - 'Our Idiot Brother,' 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark,' & More

August 22nd, 2011 11:00am EDT
Our Idiot Brother
This week, you’ll find a new format for Trailer Talk. First, you’ll see “My Pick for the Week,” which is the film I recommend most out of the ones debuting. Next, you’ll also notice further criticism based on the trailers, including an originality rating for each film coming out, and my advice on where and when to see each of the movies.

Hitting theaters are the Paul Rudd comedy “Our Idiot Brother,” the horror Guillermo del Toro remake “Don’t be Afraid of the Dark,” the Zoe Saldana action thriller “Colombiana,” the Iranian drama “Circumstance,” and the Vera Farmiga faith-based tale “High...

Michelle Yeoh Deported From Burma

June 28th, 2011 8:19am EDT
Michelle Yeoh
Actress Michelle Yeoh, who stars as released political prisoner Aung San Suu Kyi in an upcoming film, has been deported from Burma.

The former Bond girl arrived in Yangon on June 22nd but was denied entry because she is on a blacklist.

A government official says, "She did not have the chance to enter... She was deported straight away on the first flight after arriving at Yangon (Rangoon) International Airport."

Yeoh previously visited the country in December to shadow democracy campaigner Suu Kyi and research her role in Luc Besson's forthcoming movie The Lady, to be released later t...

Natalie Portman: The Best Actress Of Her Generation?

October 1st, 2010 10:10am EDT

Since her intense breakout role in 1994’s “The Professional,” Natalie Portman has been one of the most respected and versatile actors working in Hollywood. Her filmography spans over 15 years but is as impressive and solid as Audrey Hepburn’s or Meryl Streep’s, two actresses to whom she has rightfully been compared.

It makes sense that Portman has become one of the most talented performers in Hollywood considering the amazing list of directors with whom she’s worked:

Luc Besson (“The Professional”)

Michael Mann (“Heat”)

Ted Demme (“Beautiful Girls”)

Woody Allen (“Everyone Says I Love Y...

August 19th, 2010 3:30pm EDT
Maggie Q
Billboards promoting actress Maggie Q's new TV show Nikita are causing a controversy across America - because they're too sexy and too fiery.

The bosses of some malls and shopping areas have refused to put up the posters for fear of offending people. The varied billboards feature the scantily clad Live Free or Die Hard star holding a series of killer weapons.

Officials at top Los Angeles shopping center The Grove passed on an image of Q wearing a leather outfit. Malls in Chicago, Illinois and New York also passed on the image, according to Variety. Some outlets have now erected a repla...
