'Dancing With The Stars' Week Five Salutes The Red, White And Blue

April 19th, 2011 10:00am EDT
DWTS American Week
It’s American Week on ‘Dancing With The Stars’, and Monday was a night of odd music choices mixed with dances that didn’t fit them. As a result, there were a lot of awkward performances, and mixed reviews. I think they may have started out with a good idea for a theme, but didn’t carry it out very well. After last week’s classical theme, it was a definite step down. But the show must go on, and ‘Dancing’ has always got to have a gimmick, right?

Ralph Macchio (Actor) and Karina Smirnoff
Dance: Samba
Scores: 8, 7, 7
Len said that he was disappointed in Ralph’s inconsistency. He said it w...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Four Elimination Is 'The Heart Of The Show' Sugar Ray

April 13th, 2011 9:28am EDT
SUGAR RAY LEONARD - ANNA TREBUNSKAYA
Classical Week performances are over and done, but ‘Dancing With The Stars’ still had last night’s results show to milk the orchestra. It wasn’t quite as effective with Jennifer Hudson taking Katherine Jenkins’ spot at center stage, but that wasn’t really what mattered. What mattered is who the heck was going to go home. This was one of those weeks that it seemed like it could have been anyone.

In fact, the first couple declared to be in jeopardy was sort of a shock based on judge scores, but even then I still wondered if it really could have been their time. I’m getting ahead of mys...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Four Gives Us Classics & Another Leader Board Shift

April 12th, 2011 9:20am EDT
DWTS Classical themed week
Tchaikovsky, Rota, Bocelli, Williams... It’s Classical Week on ‘Dancing With The Stars’, and the band has gone and multiplied into a 46 member orchestra. On top of that, we had some amazing guest stars, like violinist David Garrett and singer Katherine Jenkins. I’m not a huge fan of classical music, but I enjoy it enough, and this was one of the best theme nights I can remember in recent seasons.

The stage was really quite amazing to see, and it brought a whole new element to the show. Last season they did Acoustic Week, and that was uneventful in my eyes, but this was a game changer. ...

'Dancing With The Stars' Backstage Report: Wendy Williams' Bizarre Behavior

April 6th, 2011 1:27pm EDT
Wendy Williams | Photo Credits: Adam Taylor/ABC
Here's one for the etiquette police, and a first for Dancing With the Stars: Talk show host Wendy Williams — the second star this season to be told that her Dancing days are over — decided to skip the traditional "last dance" with her pro partner, Tony Dovolani. "I want to thank the judges, and I want to thank you also, Tony, for teaching me how to dance," said Williams upon her dismissal....

'Dancing With The Stars' Review: Week Three Elimination... Wendy Williams

April 6th, 2011 9:18am EDT
DANCING WITH THE STARS THE RESULTS SHOW
Monday night we laughed and cried, and oohed and aahed, among other cliche reactions, over the emotional stories our stars told with their dances. We collectively cringed over Kirstie and Maks’ fall, then talked about it all day long. We discussed how the scores have been all over the place this season... and then talked about Kirstie and Maks some more.

Look, you fall down on ‘Dancing’, and you’re going to have to talk about it and hear about it until you have a nervous breakdown. It’s just the way it is.

Here’s a run down of where we stood after Monday’s performances:

1. Hines and K...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Three Performances Get Emotional

April 5th, 2011 9:20am EDT
CHRIS JERICHO CHERYL BURKE
With Mike and Lacey gone, we now have ten stars standing, some good, some bad, some ridiculous. Some of them are all of those things at the same time, and this week they get to tell us their personal stories. Each star picked a song that they had an emotional connection to, and had to express it in their dance.

It wasn’t as silly as I thought it was going to be.

The outcomes were a little surprising, most especially because they gave us a brand new pecking order at the end of the night. Again. This season is shaping up to be unpredictable. Don’t these people realize that they’re toyi...

Chris Brown's 'F.A.M.E.' Debuts At Number One Despite Recent Bad Press

March 30th, 2011 10:51pm EDT
Chris Brown F.A.M.E.
Despite his recent violent outburst on Good Morning America, racy photos that hit the 'net and a publicist vacancy, Chris Brown has persevered all the negativity surrounding him lately and has risen to the top again by scoring a number one debut with his new album, "F.A.M.E."

Apparently he still has fans after all.

Brown performed on Tuesday night's episode of Dancing With The Stars; and prior to the show, host Tom Bergeron made it clear to producers that he didn't want to interview the "Kiss Kiss" singer. The host said that he couldn't guarantee that he wouldn't bring up Brown's 2009 Rih...

'Dancing With The Stars' Review: And The First Elimination Of Season Twelve Is...

March 30th, 2011 9:41am EDT
Mike Catherwood and Lacey Schwimmer
It's inevitable. One by one, all the contestants on 'Dancing With The Stars' will go home until there is only one left standing. It's no fun for anyone, but for the very first to go, it downright stinks.

Of course, before we kick someone off the dance floor crying (maybe), the first hour of 'Dancing' is the recap hour. I actually really like to rewatch the dances without all the extraneous stuff. And I have to admit that on second watch, yes, I was a little harsh in my criticism of Petra this week. Did I think she had any better a chance going into the elimination show after a rewatch...

Tom Bergeron: 'I Don't Want To Interview Chris Brown'

March 29th, 2011 2:41pm EDT
Tom Bergeron
TV host Tom Bergeron has asked the producers of Dancing With The Stars to excuse him from an interview with Chris Brown when he performs on the show on Tuesday night, because he can't promise not to poke fun at the R&B star's troubles.

The temperamental singer hit the headlines last week when he smashed a window backstage after an appearance on breakfast show Good Morning America - following a tense interview about his 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna.

And Bergeron doesn't want a repeat of that showdown on his show.

In an interview with Los Angeles DJ Ryan Seacrest, Bergeron sa...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Two Performances Review

March 29th, 2011 8:47am EDT
Romeo and Chelsie Hightower
It's week two of 'Dancing With The Stars', and expectations are high. For some. Ralph Macchio and Kirstie Alley came out on fire last week, and we wanted to see if they can keep up the high standard. Was it luck? A product of the opening night high? I was especially interested in seeing Kirstie, considering I expected utter clumsiness last week. She shocked a lot of people. Can she do it again?

The rest of our stars are... not so heavily anticipated. In fact, Mike Catherwood couldn't get worse. Well, I shouldn't say that. He could fall down this week, or have a nervous bre...

Dancing With The Stars is set for its big 12th season return in just a few weeks, and the new cast is official!

During Monday night's episode of The Bachelor, DWTS hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke revealed the new cast, most of whom came as no surprise as a partial list was leaked earlier in the day.

One standout is rapper Romeo, who was supposed to have been on the show for Season 2 but had to drop out after a basketball injury left him sidelined. His father, rapper Master P, took over for him and was quick to exit the show after dismal performances.

Jennifer Grey Wins DWTS
Okay America, you can breathe a sigh of relief, Bristol Palin did not win "Dancing With The Stars."

No, it was Jennifer Grey - who battled through pain & injuries that occurred during practice (and Palin's "fans" & followers) - who took home the Mirror Ball trophy. Yet, in the end, after a tough season Grey overcame it all and was crowned the winner of Season 11 of the hit show

Grey started out the night scoring another perfect 10 for her Waltz with partner Derek Hough. It was the exact same dance she performed at the beginning of the season and the dance that left few dry eyes as fans r...

'Dancing With The Stars' Judges Call Michael Bolton's Dance 'The Worst Thing Ever'

September 28th, 2010 6:00pm EDT
Dancing With The Stars
Michael Bolton is in the Dancing with the Stars doghouse, which is ironic because his performance started with him crawling out of one. Bolton's jive to "Hound Dog" got blasted by the judges, to the point where host Tom Bergeron didn't know the judges had score cards for numbers that low.

Michael Bolton scored 12 out of 30, the worst jive in the history of the show. He received a 3, to Bergeron's incredulous "We have a 3?" Watch the video below for a snippet of his dance, if you dare.

"You should have taken the bone and gone back to the doghouse," judge Bruno Tonioli said. "You did it a...

What 'Dancing With The Stars' Finale Lacked – Unpredictability

May 26th, 2010 11:07am EDT
Erin Andrews
“Dancing With The Stars” is a great idea for a television show – get a handful of some famous faces, pair them with professional dancers and dress them up in sparkly outfits while they get harsh criticism filled with double entendres. As season 10 came to a close last night, it’s clear that audiences have really grown to love this formula as the show’s ratings top the juggernaut that is “American Idol”.

However, here’s one complaint – the celebrities with the dancing experience always place the highest! Ok so DWTS is a show based around competitive dancing. It’s like the free market where ...

During the finale, the three competitors danced the Tango in the penultimate elimination. Andrews was ousted first, leaving Scherzinger to face off against Lysacek in one final dance-off before being crowned champion.
