Kellie Pickler & Derek Hough Take Home Mirrorball Trophy On 'Dancing With The Stars'

May 22nd, 2013 9:12am EDT
Dancing With The stars
After 13 weeks and 17 rounds of dancing, "Dancing with the Stars" crowned two new winners. It's been a long and arduous road for the contestants, and last night's finale truly showed who had the superior legwork. Without too much deliberation, the recap of the events of the night starts here...

The show opened with the cast members of season 16 performing to Pitbull's "Don't Stop the Party" in a dance choreographed by Lacey Schwimmer.

DWTS fans voted via Twitter on which of the Freestyle dances they wanted to see again. The winning encore dance was from Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough.

Who Will Be A 'Dancing With The Stars' All-Star?

May 16th, 2012 2:07pm EDT
Mario Lopez
We knew back in April, thanks to a loose-lipped Mario Lopez, that ABC would be airing an all-star version of their dancing competition Dancing with the Stars. Finally, the network has officially announced the alternate version of the show, which lets us wonder - who will be on it?

Lopez, obviously, is in unless ABC is sour that he let loose he was asked to be on it before the network announced the show. TV Guide reported Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown, Sabrina Bryan, Gilles Marini and Kyle Massey are in.

The other night, Tom Bergeron said past winners would compete as well. That means Kelly ...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week 4 Results: Ready For A Shocker

April 11th, 2012 9:18am EDT
SHERRI SHEPHERD Eliminated on DWTS
Are you ready for a shocker? That seemed to be the overall theme for last night’s results show. “This really is one of the nights where you look at the quality of the cast and have no choice but to be shocked,” said Tom Bergeron. And yes we were, and unfortunately another wonderful dancer was sent home. The judges scores going into elimination were the following in ranking order.

1. Katherine Jenkins & Mark Ballas- 105
2. Roshon Fegan & Chelsie Hightower- 100
3. Maria Menounos & Derek Hough- 99
3. William Levy & Cheryl Burke- 99

Melissa Gilbert Hospitalized With 'Mild Concussion And Whiplash'

April 10th, 2012 8:12am EDT
Melissa Gilbert
Actress Melissa Gilbert was taken to the hospital on Monday night after sustaining a nasty head injury during her performance on Dancing With The Stars.

The former Little House on The Prairie star took to the dance floor for a routine with professional partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, but viewers noticed she was missing when all the competitors appeared together at the end of the episode.

The show's host Tom Bergeron told the audience that Gilbert had to leave the studio to see a doctor after hurting herself during the routine. He said, "She injured herself and as a precaution she's gone to...

Last week we witnessed the best season premiere in 'Dancing With the Stars' history and were all blown away by just how talented our celebrities are!

Between William Levy's hip shaking action, Jaleel White's smoothe moves and Katherine Jenkins floating on air around the ballroom with sheer grace, we saw some of the highest opening night scores ever!

Tom Bergeron also introduced us to the Maria Menounos laugh ... or should I say cackle? He challenged us to play the Maria Menounos drinking game at home, so we of course accepted! Join us for the 'Dancing With the Stars' Pre-Party with curr...

'Dancing With The Stars' Finale Crowns J.R. Martinez The Hero Of The Ballroom

November 23rd, 2011 9:14am EST
JR Martinez Wins 'Dancing With The Stars'
So last night ‘Dancing With The Stars’ crowned a new champion for it’s thirteenth season, and it was an outcome that I wouldn’t have predicted. Then again, I feel like I’ve been swinging back and forth all season, so it’s nothing new.

After Monday night’s show, Rob held onto the top spot, and I really hoped he would hang onto it. Here’s where the leader board stood on Monday:

1. Rob and Cheryl - 57
2. Ricki and Derek - 54
2. J.R. and Karina - 54

As usual, all the fallen stars took the stage in the first number, and it never fails to be kind of nostalgic. Which is weird, consid...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Ten Finals Sends Rob To The Top

November 22nd, 2011 11:00am EST
Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke perform
Monday night was the last night for the stars to perform for our votes, and time for the much anticipated freestyle dances, which can make or break someone’s chances of winning. We have Ricki, who started strong and just got better. She’s with Derek, who has gotten the trophy every time he’s made it to the finals (three times). Then we have Rob, who has skyrocketed to the top from humble beginnings. His amazing partner, Cheryl, won the first two seasons she was on, but hasn’t won since season three, and hasn’t been to the finals since season eight. Lastly, we have J.R., who stole every...

'Dancing With The Stars' Soccer Star Hope Solo Falls Short Of The Goal

Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovsky were eliminated on DWTS
Next week is the much anticipated finals of this season of ‘DWTS,' so of course last night was the much anticipated elimination to decide who was going to be in the final three. I was concerned for J.R. before I looked at the scores last night, but seeing that he actually fell eleven points behind the leader and nine points behind second place worried me more. Sure, Hope was still seven points behind him, but it surprised me. I knew he had a bad night, but didn’t realize quite how bad.

Here’s where the leader board stood Monday night:

1. Ricki and Derek - 67
2. Rob and Cheryl -...

'Dancing With The Stars' Semi-Finals Push Stars To The Limits

November 15th, 2011 11:00am EST
Rob Kardashian & Cheryl Burke
It’s the semi-finals, and the show is not going easy on our stars now. Last night they all had three dances to perform, with two individual rounds (the second with all of them doing the always fun Argentine tango, with it’s legal lifts), and then a relay dance. Unexpectedly, an injury hindered one of the front runners, giving one of the underdogs a chance to really shine.

Round One: Paso Dobles and Sambas

Hope Solo (goalie for U.S. women’s national soccer team) & Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Dance: Paso Doble
Scores: 7, 7, 7
Len said he liked the attack, but because there was so much of it, she...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Eight Elimination Sends Nancy Packin'

Nancy Grace Eliminated from DWTS
Everyone always talks about how much it’s gotta hurt to be kicked off a show like ‘Dancing’ first, but I always think getting kicked off just before the end has got to hurt just as much. After eight weeks, last night’s results episode gave someone the boot right before the semi-finals.

Here’s how the leader board looked Monday night:

1. J.R. and Karina - 60
2. Hope and Maks - 52
2. Ricki and Derek - 52
3. Rob and Cheryl - 51
4. Nancy and Tristan - 44

There was no encore dance this week, so we went right into backstage clips and the first set of results. J.R. and Hope were both ...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Eight Sees An Unexpected Comeback And The Season's First Perfect Scores

November 8th, 2011 12:00pm EST
Dancing With The Stars Week Eight
This season of ‘Dancing’ seems like it’s just flying by. It’s already week eight, and last night was the last competition show before the semi-finals. It was also the week to bring back the instant dances, and to award the first perfect scores of the season. If there was ever a time to get a second wind, it’s now, and Hope jumped at the chance to revitalize her game this week when Maks decided to (gasp!) act like an adult for the first time in weeks.

As a result of that, I may have thought last week that I knew who I wanted to win, but now I’m back to only knowing who I want to go home ...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Seven's Surprising Elimination: David Arquette

DWTS David Arquette Eliminated
I feel sorry for parents with teenage daughters who watch this show, because last night the Biebs was in the house. And they hyped it up like crazy, as he was really the only “star power” they had last night. The stars who are dancing are old news by now, especially on a night that they’re, you know, not actually dancing..

The team dances on Monday night shook up the leader board, most notably putting Hope in third place, two points above J.R.. Here’s where they stood after the team scores were added in:

1. Ricki and Derek - 53
2. Rob and Cheryl - 51
3. Hope and Maks - 50

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Seven Takes Halloween To New Levels

November 1st, 2011 11:00am EDT
DWTS Halloween
This week ‘Dancing’ was “dead from Hollywood,” which was just the first in a string of goofy Halloween jokes sprinkled throughout the episode. It was also plagued by some truly retro-looking “spooky” CGI, because Halloween just isn’t campy enough for this show. And of course all the dances were Halloween-themed, some more successfully than others. Being a Halloween lover, and a lover of cloak-and-dagger theatrics, I loved the extra ridiculousness. Most of the time.

And Harold Wheeler’s zombie conducting was pretty impressive.

This week, in addition to the solo dances, the stars also h...

DWTS Week Six Says Goodbye To Chaz (Finally)
Monday night, Ricki picked herself back up, J.R. gave us a little dose of amazing, Maks lost his cool (hard to believe, I know!), Nancy scored way higher than she deserved, and Chaz landed in the bottom spot, a full ten points behind the leaders. So it was interesting, to say the least. With the exception of Ricki and J.R., though, I can’t decide if it was interesting-good, or interesting-bad.

Here’s where the leader board stood on Monday night:

Not that it isn’t always, but this week we got more, including an extra group dance with all the stars together, a hysterical John Travolta impression from David, Monty Python music, a comeback for Ricki, and Maks opening his big fat mouth to say the wrong thing at the wrong time. Eh, such is Maks.

Yep, it was 80s night, and while I was young in the 80s, it’s a decade that was hard to forget for anyone who lived through it. Honestly, I’m pretty sure everyone in the fashion and entertainment industries went insane for about ten years. Pants with stirrups? Check. Movies where mannequins came to life? Check. And I’m pretty sure I had an enormous sweater covered in graffiti of every color that was totally radical, dude.

Yep, week four is about that time for the pressure to kick in, especially after the last elimination. The voters at home decided last week that sometimes dancing ability won’t save you.

Two weeks ago, I predicted that Kristin would make the top five. Well, I guess not. Meanwhile Chaz is still dancing. I swear, I’ll tear my hair out if we have another Bristol Palin phenomenon. I have a hard time seeing that happening, but it has before.

'Dancing With The Stars' Week 2 Elimination: Elisabetta Canalis Dances Her Last Dance

Well, that’s probably a little harsh, but the day I start taking this show too seriously, it’s time to stop watching. That time hasn’t come yet, obviously, so last night it was time to sit down and watch all the flashy filler, waiting for the only thing I wanted to hear, who was going home.

Who gets the boot first on DWTS? That’s the question on the minds of viewers, dancers, and stars alike going into the first elimination of the season. Well, any elimination, really, but the first one is always the worst. It’s the one where the excitement of the new season gives way to the “oh yeah, there’s a sucky part of this too.”

Tuning in to the first night of any season of ‘Dancing With The Stars’ feels a little like the opening night of a circus. There are lots of flashy costumes, drama, and the worry that someone might fall off the high wire or have a lion confuse its tamer for a juicy steak. Only on ‘Dancing’, the fear is more about falling off the high heels or having a “star” confuse their partner with a Twister board.

It’s also the night we get to see if our presumptions about how well certain stars will do are going to go how we want them too. There are obviously late bloomers, but you usually know on n...

But the judges still had another set of scores to give on Tuesday’s finale, and we got three hours of show to sit through. Three hours. They had to make up for Monday’s show only being an hour long, I guess.

Right off the bat we got a performance of “MmmBop” from Hanson, our musical guest for the episode. Yes, Hanson. 1997’s Hanson. Yikes. But I say ‘yikes’ in an oddly affectionate way, even if I was well beyond teenybopper age when they hit. Speaking of which, when did those boys grow up?!
