Richard Belzer Leaving 'Law & Order: SVU' As Series Regular

After 15 seasons and more than 300 episodes, Richard Belzer is leaving "Law & Order: SVU" as a series regular.A spokesman has confirmed that the actor is stepping down from the long-running NBC procedural drama.

Belcher, 69, has been playing the character of John Munch for more than 20 years. He has made a staggering 450 appearances as the police detective.

On the Wed., Oct. 9, episode of "SVU," Munch handed in his retirement papers.  The Oct. 16 episode will feature his retirement party.

The good news is that Belcher isn't leaving the show permanently. He will make recurring appearances...

Comedian Tom Green is returning to late-night TV for the first time in 10 years to host a one-hour weekly talk show.

Tom Green Live will premiere on U.S. cable channel AXS TV on 3 October (13) and the first guest will be Law & Order: SVU's Richard Belzer.

Green previously guest-hosted Late Night with David Letterman and fronted 2003's The New Tom Green Show as well as Internet talk show Tom Green's House Tonight.

Law & Order: SVU star Richard Belzer has defended himself after throwing a Nazi salute at a TV festival in Monaco on Tuesday.

The actor baffled fans at the Monte Carlo event with his bizarre antics, striking a controversial pose by holding two fingers above his lips, seemingly to mimic Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. He then bent over on the red carpet and showed photographers his behind.

Belzer, who is Jewish, has now explained his behavior, and insists he was not acting offensively but simply mocking Hitler in the same vein as comedy legend Charlie Chaplin.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" star Richard Belzer has blasted a woman who accused him of choking her, insisting she was seeking attention and trying to "embarrass a famous person."

Milan Agnew, an employee at an Apple store in New York's Upper West Side, alleges Belzer, 65, entered the shop on Wednesday, shook and choked her, yelling, "I need help!" Agnew immediately called police and filed a harassment complaint.

The actor was questioned by cops and later released without charge - and is now speaking out about her claims, which he insists were entirely fabricated for attention.

Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay is battling back from a collapsed lung and will return to work on the show next week.

The actress injured herself during a sledge-riding accident, but is on the road to recovery, her co-star Richard Belzer reveals.

Belzer, who plays Detective John Munch in the cop show, says, "She's doing great. She's absolutely OK. If you believe in it say a prayer for her. If you don't send her appealing thoughts. She had a little accident sledding. But she's ok and she'll be back to work next week."

Law & Order SVU star Richard Belzer is calling on the cop show's makers to explain why they are cutting him from the series.

Belzer's character Sergeant John Munch has slowly disappeared from the show's plotlines, causing fans of the grizzled cop to protest online.

And the 63-year-old actor is joining them, telling PageSix.com, "It's mystifying to me. And I have to admit my feelings are slightly hurt.

NEW YORK (AP) - Richard Belzer has a story to tell you - about a guy named Richard Belzer. The 62-year-old actor-comedian has signed with Simon & Schuster to write two mystery books featuring himself as a TV performer caught up in his own plot.
