The 54-year-old actor was one of the big winners at the annual TV awards ceremony - which celebrates shows created outside of the United States - as he accepted a prize for his starring role in BBC crime drama 'Accused'.

Britain dominated the 2013 International Emmy Awards in the U.S. on Monday night (25Nov13), picking up three awards, including Best Actor for Sean Bean.

The former Game of Thrones star nabbed the top acting prize for his role as a cross-dresser in U.K. TV show Accused, and was overwhelmed upon receiving the honour at the Big Apple's Hilton Hotel.

He gushed, "I've never actually won anything. Thank you. I really am so happy."

Police in Britain have dropped an investigation into allegations Sean Bean harassed his ex-wife by bombarding her with abusive texts.

The Lord of the Rings star was called in for questioning at a London police station in May following claims he had sent harassing messages and made several calls to Georgina Sutcliffe, who he split from in 2010.

His fingerprints and DNA were taken and he was bailed as authorities continued their investigation.

Nevertheless, police have announced the matter will not be pursued any further.

Author George R. R. Martin has urged fans to look out for two scripts from hit TV show Game Of Thrones which were stolen before a planned charity auction.

Sean Bean has been arrested on suspicion of domestic assault. The actor was questioned by police in London for six hours after his new wife Georgina filed a complaint.
