Review: 'The Hangover Part III' - Someone Forgot The Funny

May 23rd, 2013 4:00pm EDT
The Hangover Part III
I judge how good a comedy is, by how much I laugh, as well as how much the audience laughs...or doesn't, as was the case last night, sitting in the theatre, watching 'The Hangover Park 3'.

It's been two years since our guys...Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms) and Doug (Justin Bartha) have had any encounters with strippers, weird tigers, monkeys, gangsters or drugs.  In fact, they are all happily married and living the good life in suburbia.

The only member of the Wolf Pack who doesn't have his life together is (unsurprisingly)...Alan (Zach Galifianakis.) And now, he's off his meds. He...

"Glee" star Naya Rivera showed off her fabulous abs at "The Hangover Part III" premiere in Los Angeles on Monday. The actress stepped out in a two piece black ensemble that revealed her toned tummy and tan physique.

The entire "Hangover" cast was present, including Bradley Cooper looking suave in an orange suit, a fully toothed Ed Helms, and newly engaged Justin Bartha.

In the film, Alan (Zach Galifianakis) turns to the Wolfpack for support after his father dies. This time, there's no wedding or a bachelor party - just a simple road trip that brings them full circle back to Las Vegas. Wha...

A rep has yet to confirm the reports.

Bartha recently opened up about preparing for his role in the upcoming film CBGB.  He talked about how humiliating it was to get a fully body wax to play play punk icon Stiv Bators.

Justin Bartha
For the new movie CBGB, actor Justin Bartha underwent extensive waxing to play punk icon Stiv Bators. The Hangover star realized he would have to get rid of his body hair as he researched his role as The Dead Boys frontman, and went all out to look smooth.

Bartha explains, "They took the Jew right out of me... I got it all waxed, baby! Stiv used to do some drugs and drive down the highway and they (bandmates) used to moon people while they were driving... He also gets oral sex onstage (in the movie).

"Normally, I have some hair on my body and I knew I would have to lose some weight (to ...

The latest trailer for The Hangover Part III is finally out, and the new promo reveals a lot more of the movie's plot than the first teaser that was released early last month.

This time around, the "Wolfpack" -- Alan (Zach Galifianakis), Phil (Bradley Cooper) and Stu (Ed Helms) -- returns to where it all started -- Las Vegas.

This time around a crime boss (John Goodman) tracks down the Wolfpack and takes Doug (Justin Bartha) hostage until the guys can deliver Chow (Ken Jeong), who stole $21 million from the kingpin.

It Ain’t Broke, So Philips Doesn’t Fix ‘The Hangover Part II’

May 27th, 2011 11:44am EDT
The Hangover Part II
You’re probably familiar with the sentiment “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” a colloquial expression, meaning that if you’ve found a proven formula for success, don’t mess with it. Usually when a sequel is made of a popular movie, this idea is employed by the filmmakers to some degree, so that they do not risk alienating their fans. No film in recent memory though, keeps this thought as close to the forefront as Todd Philips’ raunchy comedy “The Hangover: Part II.”

This sequel, to the 2009 hit about a bachelor party in Vegas gone awry, literally follows the same exact narrative struct...

Bangkok Is Wicked In 'The Hangover Part II,' Nice In Real Life

The Hangover Part II
The Hangover Part II had to go even wilder than Las Vegas, so they went to Bangkok. This time the wolf pack wakes up and doesn’t even know how they got there from a Thailand resort. Shooting on the streets of Bangkok was chaotic too, but director Todd Philips said that was a good thing.=

“To make a movie about mayhem, sometimes you have to go to mayhem,” Philips said. “I think it all found its way into the movie and it helped. I think in a nutshell, Bangkok is just a very crowded, very chaotic and very hot city so I think we all had just challenges dealing with the crowds and the chaos but...

Captain Jack runs into an old love interest, Angelica (Penelope Cruz), who convinces him to join her on a quest for the Fountain of Youth. Sparrow unwittingly climbs aboard the vessel of Angelica’s father, Blackbeard (Ian M...

The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston screened the independent film “Holy Rollers” last week so I had the chance to check it out. Based on a true story, "Holy Rollers" stars Jesse Eisenberg and Justin Bartha as Hasidic Jews who become drug smugglers. Eisenberg is fantastic as a man of faith conflicted by his new lifestyle, but the rest of his character Sam Gold is his standard awkward type casting. Justin Bartha is also believably sleazy and conniving as Sam's mentor Yosef. While its plot is intriguing, my overall opinion of it is brought down by the uninspired dialogue between its charac...

Pressure to attain social standing through any means possible though, causes many people to abandon their morality. “Holy Rollers,” like many other tales of the American dream gone awry is about a young man who gives up his beliefs in the quest for riches.

Two of the most interesting aspects of this story though are that it’s based on actual ev...

A lot of other critics have blasted Ridley Scott’s “Robin Hood,” but honestly I found it to be pretty interesting. It is slightly long winded and its action scenes are a bit frenetic, however it dares to be different in how it approaches the Robin Hood tale which I appreciate.

As a narrative "Robin Hood" operates like a prequel, covering the events leading to Robin’s branding as an outlaw. This Robin is serious, more like a solider commanding his friends in battle, than the lighthearted rogue whose archery and skills with a sword are so well known in the legend.
