Jeremy Renner In 'Bourne Legacy' And 10 Other Franchise Recasts

August 9th, 2012 12:07pm EDT
The Bourne Legacy
Jeremy Renner isn't playing Jason Bourne, but he's taking over the Bourne franchise for Matt Damon in The Bourne Legacy. Renner's also not the first actor or actress to become the new face of a franchise. Here are 10 other franchise recasts:

Bruce Banner - Eric Bana/Edward Norton/Mark Ruffalo: Bana signed for three Hulk films, but was replaced by super fan Norton when Marvel re-acquired the rights. Norton re-wrote The Incredible Hulk and starred in a hit, but was unable to come to a deal when a role in The Avengers was available. Ruffalo filled in, and was given positive reviews.

Eric Bana Endured Minus 29 Degrees Filming 'Hanna,' Feared Hypothermia

April 12th, 2011 9:14am EDT
Eric Bana
Eric Bana feared hypothermia while filming new movie Hanna in freezing Finland.

The Aussie star admits he wasn't used to the big freeze he experienced when he arrived on set for the action thriller - and he only hoped medics would recognise the symptoms of hypothermia before they took hold on him and the rest of the cast.

He tells WENN, "The cold in Finland was something else, but we were well looked after. The funniest thing was we got a memo about how to diagnose hypothermia in your co-worker, because apparently it's easier to diagnose it in someone else rather than yourself.

Review: 'Hanna' A Five Star Sight To Be Seen

April 5th, 2011 7:00am EDT
hanna picture
I remember seeing the trailer for "Hanna" and definitely being intrigued – action and intensity with a pinch innocence. Though upon expressing my reaction to others, a strange and very resounding 'looks bad' vibe seemed to come down the pike. After seeing the film such an opinion would be a crying shame, as "Hanna" is hands down one of the most touching, funny and downright kinetic films of 2011 – a five star sight to be seen.

The film follows young teenage girl Hanna (Lovely Bones alum Saoirse Ronan), who lives with her rough and tumble widowed father Erik (Original movie Hulk Eric Bana...

Mean, green superhero the Hulk is heading back to the small screen in a new TV series. The comic book creation was first brought to life in 1970s series The Incredible Hulk with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno, which was followed by a string of spin-off TV movies.

Mark Ruffalo
Mark Ruffalo hopes there are no hard feelings with his Hulk predecessor Edward Norton, insisting his pal's public exclusion from "The Avengers" wasn't "a great way" to kick off the project.

Fans were left stunned when Marvel Studios bosses announced last month that Norton, who played Dr. Bruce Banner and his monstrous alter-ego in 2008's 'The Incredible Hulk," would not star in the upcoming superhero movie.

A statement declared he would be replaced by an actor who "embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members."

TV is back, football is back, and summer movie season is finally at its end. Yes, no more summer movies, no more endless weekends filled with event films that shatter theater speakers and routinely melt screens with too much rambunctious action. It's a thankful end to a season that routine...

Full disclosure: This review is written from the point of view of someone who has not read the wildly successful book by Audrey Niffenegger. It's unknown that if that statement were the opposite if it would have enhanced the experience -- filling in backstory where it's badly needed -- or degrade the film when compared directly to the popular written story. In truth, it shouldn't matter; but, for many ... oh, it certainly will.

The film starts out with a young Henry lamenting, while riding the rear of his mother's car, that he does not have the ability to sing as beautifully as his mothe...

Adam Sandler has been delighting (and annoying) audiences for about 20 years, although in the beginning he was just that guy who did odd voices on "Saturday Night Live." Most of Sandler's films in the past 10 years have been out of his own production company, with a few exceptions. Forbes recently named him one of the highest-paid men in hollywood. Anyone who writes this actor off as just a sill...

Review: 'Star Trek' Is A Blockbuster That Deserves The Hype

Star Trek XI
When the new "Star Trek" was announced, directed by J.J. Abrams and starring a hot young cast, it was playfully referred to as "Star Trek 90210" and many fans were skeptical of its worth. Reboots of popular series are often very disappointing, and it was especially dangerous with such a diehard fanbase ready to tear apart each and every detail. The Original Series started the Trek world, and it was known to be hilarious, cheesy, and the best sci-fi they had at the time. The Next Generation was sleek and more serious, but personally I always preferred the original cast; especially their movi...

That strange yet familiar vibe makes those down under denizens appear exciting and mysterious - an irresistible combo!

So where did things go wrong? Well, if you saw the film's opening weekend you probably spent the first 45 minutes wondering if you had stumb...
