Olivia Munn fronting new Proactiv campaign after acne nightmare

March 21st, 2014 4:10am EDT
Olivia Munn
Actress Olivia Munn has become the new face of acne treatment brand Proactiv after suffering an embarrassing breakout while starring opposite Hollywood hunk Eric Bana in a new movie.

The Iron Man 2 beauty reveals she had never suffered from spotty skin until she moved from Japan, where she was raised, back to her native Oklahoma at the age of 16 and experienced a nasty outbreak of acne.

She says, "I had this horrible outbreak and I never had acne before. On my skin, on my forehead, it was covered in acne and I didn't know what to do. I'm a new kid in school and so I felt really self-consc...

Eric Bana gets easy time in Australia

January 17th, 2014 9:20pm EST
Eric Bana
Eric Bana says living in Australia makes it "easier" for him to hide from celebrity attention.
The A-list actor has a reasonably quiet life because he refuses to move to Hollywood and the paparazzi in his home city of Melbourne leave him alone.
He said: "They've never been interested in me. They tend not to hang around the same places I do. I think the paparazzi like to live pretty glamorous lives themselves, so if you stay away from all the cool, trendy places, they stay away from you."
The 45-year-old star - who has two children, Klaus, 14, and 11-year-old Sophia with his wife Rebecca - i...

Eric Bana
Actor Eric Bana will be living out his childhood fantasies in his next film when he plays a tough police detective.

The Australian star has already shot the film, in which he portrays real-life Bronx cop Ralph Satchi in Beware the Night - and he got the chance to hang out with the man he's playing.

He tells WENN, "It was an amazing experience this past summer, shooting at night in the Bronx.

"It's my first experience working in the horror genre. I play a real person, Ralph Satchi, a tough as nails detective in the 46th Precinct of the Bronx. Through a series of investigations, he discove...

The star has convinced executives at Focus Features to sell him the Australian distribution rights to the movie, and he is now working towards a 5 December (13) theatrical release.

He tells, "I have logged many years on the publicity trail, and the relevant outlets know me and I know them.

"On paper, it's fresh waters, but in reality it isn't really. (I) can have a level of control, and... it makes a helluva (sic) lot of sense and i...

August 9th, 2012 12:07pm EDT
The Bourne Legacy
Jeremy Renner isn't playing Jason Bourne, but he's taking over the Bourne franchise for Matt Damon in The Bourne Legacy. Renner's also not the first actor or actress to become the new face of a franchise. Here are 10 other franchise recasts:

Bruce Banner - Eric Bana/Edward Norton/Mark Ruffalo: Bana signed for three Hulk films, but was replaced by super fan Norton when Marvel re-acquired the rights. Norton re-wrote The Incredible Hulk and starred in a hit, but was unable to come to a deal when a role in The Avengers was available. Ruffalo filled in, and was given positive reviews.

Eric Bana
Eric Bana is set to brush up on his rock 'n' roll skills to play Elvis Presley in a new movie.

Bana will also co-produce the production, which was co-written by Elwes.

Danny Huston is said to be in final negotiations to play Nixon in the film, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The Sexiest Royalty In Film

April 29th, 2011 8:38am EDT
You've seen the portraits in museums: Most royalty, while wielding the most power, were not the best-looking bunch (unless they just had really bitter and vindictive portrait artists).

But while it's easy to glamorize someone's life when their entire existence is predicated on living in opulent mansions and having every wish attended to, we've noticed that Hollywood and their European equivalents tend to take certain liberties with its treatment of royalty, sexing them up exponentially.

With the release of the Oscar favorite "The King's Speech," in which Colin Firth's King George VI tries...

Eric Bana Endured Minus 29 Degrees Filming 'Hanna,' Feared Hypothermia

April 12th, 2011 9:14am EDT
Eric Bana
Eric Bana feared hypothermia while filming new movie Hanna in freezing Finland.

The Aussie star admits he wasn't used to the big freeze he experienced when he arrived on set for the action thriller - and he only hoped medics would recognise the symptoms of hypothermia before they took hold on him and the rest of the cast.

He tells WENN, "The cold in Finland was something else, but we were well looked after. The funniest thing was we got a memo about how to diagnose hypothermia in your co-worker, because apparently it's easier to diagnose it in someone else rather than yourself.

"One of t...

Review: 'Hanna' A Five Star Sight To Be Seen

April 5th, 2011 7:00am EDT
hanna picture
I remember seeing the trailer for "Hanna" and definitely being intrigued – action and intensity with a pinch innocence. Though upon expressing my reaction to others, a strange and very resounding 'looks bad' vibe seemed to come down the pike. After seeing the film such an opinion would be a crying shame, as "Hanna" is hands down one of the most touching, funny and downright kinetic films of 2011 – a five star sight to be seen.

The film follows young teenage girl Hanna (Lovely Bones alum Saoirse Ronan), who lives with her rough and tumble widowed father Erik (Original movie Hulk Eric Bana...

Review: 'Hanna' 'Two Jews On Film' One Is Left Breathless By This Action Thriller (Video)

April 4th, 2011 7:03pm EDT
'Hanna' directed by Joe Wright (Atonement) is the story of a teenage girl who goes out into the world for the first time and has to battle for her life.

Hanna, played by Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronana of 'Atonement' is a 16 year old girl...bright, inquisitive and a devoted daughter. But she is far from your typical teenager...Hanna has the strength, the stamina and the smarts of a super solder.

Her widowed father. Erik (Eric Bana) is ex-CIA. The two of them live nestled away in the snow covered forests of Northern Finland. The only other living creature Hanna has ever seen are the ...

I've got the rundown on what's inside.

'The Hulk' Heading Back To Television

October 15th, 2010 3:03pm EDT
The Incredible Hulk
Mean, green superhero the Hulk is heading back to the small screen in a new TV series. The comic book creation was first brought to life in 1970s series The Incredible Hulk with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno, which was followed by a string of spin-off TV movies.

Dr. Bruce Banner and his monstrous alter-ego later transferred to the big screen with portrayals by Eric Bana and Edward Norton, while Mark Ruffalo is set to revive the character once again for upcoming movie The Avengers.

It has now been revealed that the Hulk is set for another outing in a new TV show, which is currently in deve...

Mark Ruffalo Has Big Green Feet To Fill In 'The Avengers'

July 30th, 2010 6:30pm EDT
Mark Ruffalo
Mark Ruffalo hopes there are no hard feelings with his Hulk predecessor Edward Norton, insisting his pal's public exclusion from "The Avengers" wasn't "a great way" to kick off the project.

Fans were left stunned when Marvel Studios bosses announced last month that Norton, who played Dr. Bruce Banner and his monstrous alter-ego in 2008's 'The Incredible Hulk," would not star in the upcoming superhero movie.

A statement declared he would be replaced by an actor who "embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members."

Ruffalo was confirmed as the new Hulk ...

Never fear, there is plenty of BBCA programming which, given the chance, could soon become some of your new favorite (rather, favourite) shows. Here's a guide to a few to get started:

Top Gear

Currently in its 13th season, "Top Gear" is a tried and true favorite. Showcasing the world's greatest and fastest cars, the team (hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May) perform incredible stunts,...

September 9th, 2009 9:53am EDT
G.I. Joe
Now that Labor Day has come and gone, the official end to summer has now passed. Yes, the days will now be shorter, the weather cooler (unless you're smart enough to live in Southern California like this column's scribe), and for some school resuming its session, but there's also a lot of good news.

TV is back, football is back, and summer movie season is finally at its end. Yes, no more summer movies, no more endless weekends filled with event films that shatter theater speakers and routinely melt screens with too much rambunctious action. It's a thankful end to a season that routine...

Braniston Inspired 'The Time Traveler's Wife'

August 17th, 2009 9:23am EDT
Former couple Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were the model couple who inspired Bruce Joel Rubin as he was adapting Audrey Niffenegger's book The Time Traveler's Wife.

The screenwriter admits he saw the former man and wife as the perfect Henry and Clare in the movie, which hit cinemas on Friday with Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams in the lead roles.

Ironically, Bana's Troy co-star Pitt is an executive producer of the romantic saga.

Rubin admits, "I saw them (Pitt and Aniston) as Henry and Clare. I just did. They just seemed like a perfect version of Henry and Clare. I just found th...

Review: 'The Time Traveler's Wife'

August 14th, 2009 10:15am EDT
The Time Traveler
Full disclosure: This review is written from the point of view of someone who has not read the wildly successful book by Audrey Niffenegger. It's unknown that if that statement were the opposite if it would have enhanced the experience -- filling in backstory where it's badly needed -- or degrade the film when compared directly to the popular written story. In truth, it shouldn't matter; but, for many ... oh, it certainly will.

The film starts out with a young Henry lamenting, while riding the rear of his mother's car, that he does not have the ability to sing as beautifully as his mothe...

Is Adam Sandler Still A Box Office Draw?

July 29th, 2009 9:55am EDT
Adam Sandler
Adam Sandler has been delighting (and annoying) audiences for about 20 years, although in the beginning he was just that guy who did odd voices on "Saturday Night Live." Despite seeming like just a goof, Sandler quickly proved to be a smart business investor, having written and produced several of his most successful films and creating Happy Madison Productions.

Most of Sandler's films in the past 10 years have been out of his own production company, with a few exceptions. Forbes recently named him one of the highest-paid men in hollywood. Anyone who writes this actor off as just a sill...

Eminem Returns To Film

July 6th, 2009 8:44am EDT
Rapper Eminem is making a return to Hollywood - he's landed a role in new comedy Funny People.

The star, real name Marshall Mathers III, won critical acclaim for his role in autobiographical movie 8 Mile in 2002, but he put his budding acting career on hold to focus on his music.

But he's now ready to pick up where he left off - scoring a small part in Judd Apatow's latest project, appearing on the big screen alongside Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Eric Bana and Jonah Hill.

Another Look At the Cast Of 'Star Trek'

May 9th, 2009 10:41am EDT
Star Trek
The reviews for Star Trek have been mostly positive, so it's okay to assume the sequel that Paramount gave the go ahead to a few weeks ago is going to happen. Here's a quick look at the "cast of unknowns" who actually have a lot of acting credits between them.

Chris Pine starred opposite Anne Hathaway in The Princess Diaries 2

and Lindsay pre-rehab trips Lohan in Just My Luck. He was nearly unrecognizable in Smokin' Aces, but his least hated project was probably the little seen Bottle Shock.

After a few the less said the better television show appearances, Zachary Quinto joined ...

Lessons J.J. Abrams's 'Star Trek' Could Learn From Past 'Trek' Films

May 8th, 2009 9:50am EDT
Star Trek XI
It's been over 40 years since Gene Roddenbury's "Star Trek" hit the air, and after ten movies, 703 episodes from five different series, and faltering public interest, it's become difficult to go back to where no one has gone before. Now, four years after "Enterprise" went of the air, the original crew of the starship Enterprise has burst back onto the screen. Directed by "Lost" and "Alias" creator J.J. Abrams, this new installment of the "Star Trek" saga goes back to the beginning when James T. Kirk first slipped on his yellow Starfleet uniform. Still, it hasn't been an easy path for the lo...

Review: 'Star Trek' Is A Blockbuster That Deserves The Hype

May 1st, 2009 2:24pm EDT
Star Trek XI
When the new "Star Trek" was announced, directed by J.J. Abrams and starring a hot young cast, it was playfully referred to as "Star Trek 90210" and many fans were skeptical of its worth. Reboots of popular series are often very disappointing, and it was especially dangerous with such a diehard fanbase ready to tear apart each and every detail. The Original Series started the Trek world, and it was known to be hilarious, cheesy, and the best sci-fi they had at the time. The Next Generation was sleek and more serious, but personally I always preferred the original cast; especially their movi...
