'Gossip Girl' Recap: 'The Lady Vanished'

March 16th, 2010 9:40am EDT
gossip girl
Its spring and love must be in the Gossip Girl air. Nate (Chace Crawford) and Serena (Blake Lively) still can't seem to keep their hands off each other. Their morning romps in the kitchen, however, are starting to take a toll on their roommate Blair (Leighton Meester). At least she can amuse herself and fake orgasm while reading a magazine to prove an ever-so-annoying point to the happy couple.

Blair's need to amuse herself comes from Chuck's (Ed Westwick) recent absence after a run in with his potential mother to be, Elizabeth (Laura Harring). After staking out the hotel she was staying i...

Female Celebrities We'd Like To Kiss Under The Mistletoe

'Tis the season to … make out under the mistletoe? Sure, why not? If we had to pick ten hot female celebrities to kiss under the mistletoe (or in today's terms: get drunk with and make out in public) it would be an easy list.

It actually took us ten minutes to compile the list and if you have read our previous articles you can name at least half the ladies.

10. Shenae Grimes

Sometimes she wears hot hipster glasses other times she has to get her Hollywood on and she goes glasses-less, which is a shame because she would easily win the "Hottest Hipster" award. The Canadian born Grime...

'Gossip Girl' Recap: Thanksgiving Table Serves As Love's Chopping Block

December 1st, 2009 8:35am EST
Gossip Girl
This week's episode of Gossip Girl felt more like a Valentine's Day Massacre, rather than Thanksgiving dinner. Cupid's arrows were flying every which direction, ensuring that trouble was cooking alongside the turkey.

First up on love's chopping block - Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford). Nate hinted in the last episode that he'd been harboring feelings for Serena (Blake Lively) for the past three years. He's been doing a pretty damn good job of hiding those feelings, considering in the meantime he's been with Blair (Leighton Meester), Vanessa (Jessica Szohr), Jenny (Taylor Momsen), and who ...

'Gossip Girl' Recap: 'The Last Days of Disco Stick'

November 17th, 2009 9:21am EST
Gossip Girl
Serena (Blake Lively) may have started out this week's episode of Gossip Girl apologizing to Blair, but by the end of it, she sure needed to apologize to a few more people.

For starters, Serena and Tripp's (Aaron Tveit) chemistry was heating up. It became uncomfortable to watch the two of them in the same room. Serena at least knew she was doing something wrong, or thinking about doing something wrong, so she turned to someone who had some experience in the married affair department - Nate (Chace Crawford).

Nate decided to be a friend, despite the awkwardness about coming to him (wh...

Blake Lively Shows Some Legs & Cleavage At The 'Private Lives Of Pippa Lee' Premiere

Blake Lively at Pippa Lee premire
Blake Lively arrived at "The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee" premiere in New York City on Sunday looking mighty fine. She showed off her long legs in sexy short shorts and didn't leave much to the imagination with her low-cut blouse. See more photos after the jump.

Last month the Gossip Girl star brushed off rumors she's engaged to co-star and real life love Penn Badgley. Online reports recently suggested the couple was set to walk down the aisle after Lively allegedly accepted Badgley's wedding proposal.

Meanwhile, her beau made headlines for a threesome storyline in "Gossip Girl." A le...

'Gossip Girl' Recap: 'They Shoot Humphreys, Don't They?'

November 10th, 2009 8:28am EST
Gossip Girl
It was time for Gossip Girl's very own Little J (Taylor Momsen) to prove herself to society's finest. Cotillion was upon the Upper East Side, and Jenny was struggling to find an escort to match her queen standards.

The minions were set out to acquire Graham Collins, only the most attractive boy at school. However, Eric (Connor Paolo) could have just as easily asked Graham to be Jenny's escort, but that would require Eric and Jenny to actually be getting along. Eric, still raw about the Met steps incident, decided he would take the limelight away from Jenny…in order to save her and make ...

'Gossip Girl' Recap: 'How To Succeed In Bassness'

Gossip Girl was ready to put everyone in the Halloween spirit with a full basket of tricks and treats to go around. Chuck (Ed Westwick) needed to seduce new clients to his hotel, and he thought a club opening on Halloween would be just the trick to get everyone interested to visit during the holiday season.

He hired Serena (Blake Lively) in her new role as a publicity assistant to help with the club's grand opening. But, sparks flew when Chuck did not want Blair (Leighton Meester) to be involved because of the conniving gay kiss incident from the past week.

Chuck was determined to go ...

'Gossip Girl' Recap: Where Is This Show Going?

October 20th, 2009 9:57am EDT
Gossip Girl
Gossip Girl needs to learn that the old way of doing things just isn't cutting it anymore. Storylines keep repeating themselves week to week and they aren't improving. With that being said, in this episode titled 'Enough About Eve,' Blair (Leighton Meester) started off this week upset about the fact that she's still not running NYU. Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) having a major article about herself in the paper didn't help matters either.

NYU was hosting a parents' weekend and Blair thought it would be a fabulous way to fall into the hierarchy by giving a coveted toast. However, Vanessa was th...

'Gossip Girl' Recap: It's A Boy, A Wedding & Sonic Youth

Gossip Girl
While wedding season may be behind us, Gossip Girl tried to bring some ceremonial bliss to the Upper East Side. But, first things first, there was some relationship drama that needed to be sorted out before anyone could have a 'happily ever after.'

Dan (Penn Badgley) was left all by his lonesome while new movie-star girlfriend Olivia (Hilary Duff) was off on an Asian press/movie tour. While Olivia had left, Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) had come back to play, or pounce as the situation might more appropriately be described.

Georgina had gone to Boston to have Scott (Chris Riggi) c...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Stepfather,' 'Where The Wild Things Are' & More

Spike Jonze aficionados have been waiting a long time to see his latest project "Where the Wild Things Are" come to fruition. The release has been delayed over a year while Jonze fought through creative differences with Warner Brothers to make a picture both loyal to the Maurice Sendak's book and appealing to the general public.

In addition to Jonze's dark imaginary childhood tale, the films coming to theaters this week include "The Stepfather," "Law Abiding Citizen," "New York, I Love You," and "Black Dynamite."

Are Film Remakes Worth The Risk?

October 8th, 2009 10:37am EDT
Fame
In these tough economic times, film studios are producing more and more remakes. Though some cite the financial insecurity of the viewing public, many simply argue that there is just no originality anymore, and why take a risk on a "new" idea when you can simply bring back what has since become a cult classic?

All films can be considered risks, however, especially when "date night" at the movies takes a middle class couple's expendable income. Not one of the top 10 films at the box office this summer was a remake. Perhaps that is because these new-old movies have versions sitting on Blo...

Recap: Star-Studded 'Gossip Girl' Features Hilary Duff, Tyra Banks

Gossip Girl
Gossip Girl went to the movies this week. And while I'll give our favorite Upper East Siders two thumbs up for their "star-studded" attempt and their amusing self-referential nature, the rest of the episode made me question whether Gossip Girl really can survive in these post-college years.

The episode began by reminding the viewers that not everyone has left the private, prep-school life. Jenny (Taylor Momsen) and Eric (Connor Paolo) headed back to high school. Jenny had a surprise waiting for her, though. She found her very own little minions dressed in semi-spin-off punk-rock chic and...

'Gossip Girl' Recap: 'The Lost Boy'

This week Gossip Girl proved the sad fact that even when you think people have changed, they probably haven't. Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) was still out to destroy Blair (Leighton Meester). Her first step was destroying Blair's gag reflexes by sucking face with Dan (Penn Badgley) in their dorm room. Even though Blair left the room, Serena (Blake Lively) happened to catch Dan's walk of shame. Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) and Serena both expressed concern about Dan's "dating" Georgina.

Vanessa had bigger problems, though. Scott (Chris Riggi) was acting weirder than his usual creepy self. H...

Gossip Girl went back to school this week, but they're not at Constance anymore…despite what Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) may think. Blair's main goal was to take over NYU the same way she did Constance. But, taking over NYU students' brains isn't as easy as dictating where they sit on the steps of the Met. First off, Blair began fighting an uphill battle as soon as Georgina Sparks (Michelle Trachtenberg) revealed herself as her roommate. At the end of last season, Georgina connived her way with the admission lady to become Blair's roommate, but played the innocent victim in front of fe...

Last season Gossip Girl promised a pre-college clean slate to the Upper East Siders, but of course, that didn't keep them quiet over the summer. Nate (Chace Crawford), after apparently ditching Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) in Europe, came home with a new girl named Bree Buckley (Joanna Garcia). This new girl just happened to also be part of NYC royalty, and from a family that rivals the Vanderbilts'…Nate's mother's side of the family, for any who might have forgotten.

But it wasn't just Nate living the high life, Dan (Penn Badgley) and Jenny (Taylor Momsen) took a liking to their new summer h...

'Gossip Girl' Recap: 'The Goodbye Gossip Girl'

Gossip Girl may bring the drama, but it lacks in the follow-through. This year's season finale brought many almosts. We saw the beginning of a graduation ceremony, with the boys and girls of Constance and St. Jude's dressed in appropriately tacky (and clashing) green and blue polyester robes. It was interrupted with a blast from Gossip Girl blaring everyone's insecurities. I'm sure the gang graduated, but we didn't see it. We also didn't see Serena's (Blake Lively) hat; her tassel was tied to her hair. Classy.

Gossip Girl was almost going to leave everyone alone after they went off to ...

Before there was Gossip Girl, there apparently was Lily Rhodes (Brittany Snow) living it up in Los Angeles. Everyone understands characters have back stories, but this one was forced on to Gossip Girl watchers as producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage attempt to get their spin-off on the CW fall schedule with this backdoor pilot.

This episode lacked the opening narration from our beloved Gossip Girl (Kristen Bell); instead we were greeted with an 80s flashback to Lily's past life. Her parents, 80s icon Andrew McCarthy and Cynthia Watros (Rick and CeCe) had to decide what to...

This week, the Gossip Girl gang united their powers for good, instead of evil…sort of. Blair (Leighton Meester) used Serena's crisis to avoid talking to Nate (Chace Crawford) about living together next year. Gossip Girl celebrated Passover Seder, which meant it was a good time for the writers to find all words that rhymed with Seder…like cater and waiter. Eleanor Waldorf (Margaret Colin) and new husband Cyrus (Wallace Shawn) hosted the Seder dinner at their home, but it ended up being a mess - as most things turn out on the Upper East Side.

It all began when Blair (Leighton Meester) decided to skip Seder for Nate's (Chace Crawford) cousin's wedding. She thought that Nate had a surprise up his sleeve for her, namely his future cousin-in-law putting in a recommendation for her to be on a p...

It's not too often that we see the parents of our favorite Gossip Girl characters, let alone their grandparents, but this week the Vanderbilt clan was in full swing trying to woo Nate (Chace Crawford) back into their legacy of greatness.

Gossip Girl is back, finally! It's been a long time since we've checked in with the Upper East Side, but not too much has changed except now instead of sporting designer labels, the kids of Constance are dressing in their best Old English attire to perform in the play "Age of Innocence."

Sometimes I wonder about Gossip Girl. I mean, how is it possible that everyone gets their college acceptance letters (on their cell phones, no less) at the exact same time? I thought that sort of milestone was still reserved for snail mail. And, what's even odder is that Blair's father (John Shea) and his French lover flew into town for the big day. And with all that anticipation, Blair (Leighton Meester) still got waitlisted for Yale. At least she didn't get rejected. But, in her eyes, she might have well been. Well, it wasn't a big surprise to learn in the first 30 seconds of this week's Gossip Girl that Bart Bass (Robert John Burke) had died in a terrible accident. He did have some last words, left in a voicemail to Lily (Kelly Rutherford). He knew about her time spent in a hospital in France. What did she do? That's a secret Bart took to his grave; fortunately, his private investigator made it through the crash (I'm assuming he was in the accident too, he was indeed last seen with Bart in the car) and lived to sell the information to the highest bidder.
