'R.I.P.D.' Looks Like A Ghostbusting 'M.I.B.' - Watch The Trailer Here

April 18th, 2013 11:26am EDT
RIPD
The first trailer for R.I.P.D. (no, not the Rhode Island Police Department) has just surfaced, and boy, does it look cool.

The plot centers on Nick Walker (Ryan Reynolds), a police officer killed in the line of duty. But instead of just dying and fading away, he is contacted by the other-worldly RIPD, or "Rest In Peace Department," because of his unique skills -- apparently good cops make for excellent ghost busters.

The RIPD is dedicated to keeping the living world filled with the living and making sure the dead stay dead.

Walker teams up with a former wild-west sheriff known as Roy Pul...

Kevin Bacon Stays In Character While Filming 'The Following'

February 26th, 2013 2:45pm EST
The Following
While filming serial killer drama "The Following," Kevin Bacon stays in character all day long and only switches off when he leaves the set.

The actor plays a troubled agent hunting down murderers in the TV series and insists the dark subject matter makes it impossible to be his normal self during breaks on set.

He told Britain's OK! magazine, "I have to work on that (relaxing). The one thing I can't do is switch it off and on over the course of the day like some people can. They say cut and turn to the person and say, 'Anyway, blah blah blah, what time is lunch?' But I have to kind of s...

The Following
After months of hype, The Following finally premiered last night on Fox and, for the most part, the first episode did not disappoint. Created by Kevin Williamson, the brainchild behind the Scream movie franchise as well as The Vampire Diaries, The Following paints a portrait of a serial killer so intelligent and psychopathic that the cat-and-mouse game he initiates in the pilot will be enough to carry an audience through at least the first season.

Our killer is Joe Carroll (James Purefoy), a former English professor who is an expert in Gothic literature, especially the works of Edgar Alla...

However, the delay has conservationists worried the added time will give oil giants a chance to gain more support.

Real Steel
Hugh Jackman's robot boxing movie "Real Steel" has narrowly fought off competition from new dance remake "Footloose" to make it a second week atop the box office chart.

Horror reboot "The Thing" entered the countdown at three, while Steve Martin's comedy "The Big Year" failed to tickle audiences and opened in ninth place.

Review: 'Footloose' More Of A Jitterbug Than A Waltz

October 8th, 2011 3:00pm EDT
Here's a poster
Grief is confounding in that, over time, it can hypnotize and make us do some rash and terrible things. We can lash out at the ones we love most, drown ourselves in vices like food and alcohol, or even choose to watch that terrible, terrible, Oliver Stone 9/11 movie. In the case of “Footloose”, a movie more about mourning and grief than it probably intended to be, the drunk-driving death of several teenagers has caused a small town to outlaw unsupervised “Lewd” dancing.

Things kick off some time after this, when Bahstonian Ren MahCormahhhck, moves to the biahble-belt south to live with his...

'X-Men: First Class' A Lot Like The First Film... But In All the Right Ways

June 7th, 2011 3:38pm EDT
X-Men: First Class
Unlike most superhero/comic book movies, there’s an overabundance of story in “X-Men: First Class. There are points in its 132-minute running time when it feels far more like an epic miniseries than a summer blockbuster. It’s surprisingly willing to downplay its big action sequences in order to focus on character development; the action is there, but it just doesn’t feel terribly important.

And yet, for the most part, “First Class” doesn’t feel overstuffed and rushed, or overlong and talky. There are a lot of characters to introduce after all, though director Michael Vaughn wisely capit...

Review: 'X-Men First Class' 'Two Jews On Film' Just Like Prof X & Magneto Go Their Separate Ways (Video)

X-Men First Class
By Joan Alperin Schwartz: Right off the bat, I have to say that I gave 'X-Men First Class' 5 bagels out of 5. I absolutely loved it. The director, Matthew Vaughn did the 'X Men' franchise proud.

'X-Men First Class' is a prequel. Before Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) was Professor X and Eric Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender) became Magneto, they were just two mutant guys discovering their powers and figuring out how to use them. Charles and Eric were also on the same side.

Charles is your typical nice guy...goodlooking, brilliant, and super rich. He's also an Oxford graduate whose sp...

Review: Mutants Rehashed In Marvel's 'X-Men: First Class'

X-MEN: First Class
Well, it’s official. I was breaking a serious sweat last night prior and post screening, and I’m currently sweating as I’m typing this review in this sweat lodge of an apartment of mine, so I think it’s safe to say summer flicks have arrived. Who better than to start off the annual “trend” than MARVEL with another one of their many comic-book films! Whether successful or not (they’ve had their share of flops), this studio—in cahoots with big distributors—manage to hold on to box office numbers no matter who they’re going up against. It’s not to say they’ll break over $100 million this comin...

'X-Men First Class' Earns An 'A' And Resurrects Sinking Franchise

X-Men First Class Earns An A And Resurrects Sinking Franchise
“X-Men: First Class” has the pop and style and comic book action and humor beloved in this genre. Director Matthew Vaughn, who cut his chops on the hyper-visceral, hyper-violent “Kick-Ass” has accomplished something sort of great here. He’s resurrected a sinking franchise.

Immediately after this feat, Erik is greeted by SS of...
