Beauty is nothing new for a leading lady, but add a healthy dose of lethal to the mix and you’ve got uniquely killer combination. With her equally exquisite loveliness and fast moving fists, former MMA fighter Gina Carano has both qualities in spades – so much so that famed director Steven Soderbergh cast her as the striking lead in his new film. Hitting Blu-ray on May 1 from Lionsgate Home Entertainment, "Haywire" has Carano playing a black-ops agent double-crossed and looking for a little vengeance. We’re celebrating Soderbergh’s return to his roots with a cool Blu-ray review, but firs...

Two Jews on Film - By Joan Alperin Schwartz: I knew I was going to love 'Haywire' directed by Steven Soderbergh from the first scene.

A girl walks into a coffee shop in the middle of nowhere. She sits down...blows on her hands to warm them. The waitress takes her order.

A few seconds later, a man comes in, sits down opposite her. They briefly chat...and then SUDDENLY...

Its wham...bam...pow-kick-punch....Translation...Girl and Guy get into a very, very exciting, take no prisoners, fight with each other.

And this is no ordinary movie fight...because the girl is Gina Carano, a mixed mart...

I’ll come clean - I’m more of an early Steven Soderbergh film fan. "Sex, lies, and videotape" was a stunning five-star debut, "Kafka" a fantastically strange experience and "King of the Hill" a nostalgic favorite. But it was his fourth film, the highly underrated masterwork "The Underneath," where the director not only showed some cinematic savvy, but also began to play with what would eventually become (for better or worse!) a Soderbergh staple – playing with time. Over the years it has had varying degrees of effectiveness on his work including adding charm to the Clooney fest "Out of Si...

Review: 'Ceremony' 'Two Jews On Film' Find Nothing To Celebrate With This One (Video)

March 24th, 2011 10:22am EDT
ceremony
'Ceremony' is directed by Max Winkler. In a press interview Max said that the inspiration for the film was himself....Well they do say to write what you know...But unfortunately in this case...it's not such a good thing.

Sam David (Michael Angarano) a broke, struggling writer of children's books, convinces his former best friend, Marshall (Reece Daniel Thompson) to spend a weekend with him under the pretense of rekindling their friendship. The two guys drive off in Marshall's smoking (as in the car leaves a trail of smoke in its wake) Mercedes and head to the beaches of Long Island f...

Robert Pattinson And Kristen Stewart Romance Confirmed!
Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has confirmed the worst-kept secret in showbiz - Robert Pattinson is dating co-star Kristen Stewart.

The actors, who play onscreen lovers in the vampire movie franchise, have repeatedly denied they are more than just friends, but rumors heated up earlier this week when they were pictured holding hands in Paris, France.

Hardwicke, who directed the first film in the franchise, initially warned Pattinson against dating the younger actress when she first cast them to star opposite each other.

However, she reveals Stewart later decided she had to...
