'Fairly Legal' 1.10 'Bridges' Review

March 24th, 2011 11:05pm EDT
Fairly Legal
The Fairly Legal season finale is upon us. It ends up being a fair reflection of the entire first season: while there are some highlights, ultimately, it ends up being merely a passable diversion.

Kate is brought to the Croatian consulate to handle a custody dispute. Veronica's soon-to-be adoptive father Pete (that's Scott Holroyd, aka Chuck's evil CIA agent Justin Sullivan) wants to keep the daughter that isn't biologically his from being taken back to Croatia by his mother-in-law. The frustrated father and the protective mother-in-law eventually realize that they want the same thin...

'Fairly Legal' 1.05 'The Two Richards' Review

February 17th, 2011 11:01pm EST
Fairly Legal
If you ever want to know what it's like to be hit by a truck, this episode of Fairly Legal will elucidate that for you.

Richard Neumeyer (Brian Markinson, who will always be "the other guy from Touching Evil" to me) was smacked by one while out with his wife Marsha, and now Kate has to mediate a settlement between theNeumeyers and the insurance company, within one day. She soon discovers that while Richard may be physically fine, he's not the same man he once was. The plot echoes the same issue raised in episode two, "Priceless": how does one put a monetary cost on things which are in...

Best Space Movies

June 12th, 2009 9:53am EDT
The subject of space is a difficult one in terms of selecting films. Qualifying elements are somewhat subjective. Does the film have to take place in space? Must it include aliens? Does a mere reference to space, or different planets, make it a "space" film? In short, is it merely a subgenre of science fiction? Space and science fiction, while not mutually exclusive, can occur without the other.

In celebration of the release of one of the newest and most promising space films, Moon, check out a brief list of our favorite space films. What you will find below is a mix of films t...

'MacGyver' Set For The Big Screen?

March 16th, 2009 9:41am EDT
Studio bosses are planning to bring TV tough guy MacGyver to the big screen.

New Line studios hopes to transform the cult TV show into a hit movie franchise. Raffaella De Laurentiis is slated to produce the movie, with the series' creator Lee Zlotoff. MacGyver, played by Richard Dean Anderson for seven years from 1985, is a resourceful secret agent. No one is currently lined up to take on the iconic role.

A representative for New Line says, "We think we're a stick of chewing gum, a paper clip and an A-list writer away from a global franchise."

MacGyver was recently voted ...

Review: 'Stargate SG-1' & 'Battlestar Galactica' At Comic Con

August 4th, 2008 9:11am EDT
Stargate SG-1
"Stargate SG-1" is one of the most successful science fiction series of all time, stretching over various different industries: movie, television, book, and toy. There are some that claim it has surpassed even "Star Trek" in popularity. Based off the movie "Stargate," it boasted five seasons on Showtime and the remaining five seasons on the Sci-Fi Channel. It spawned one spin off series "Stargate Atlantis" and now two made-for-tv movies. The newest one, "Stargate Continuum" was released on July 29, just a few days after the San Diego Comic Con in which it was premiered and given its own pan...

In addition to the frigid outdoor environments, the filming will also involve U.S. Navy submarine USS Alexandria (SSN-757). Among the most visually stunning...

Sci Fi Channel Won't Renew 'Stargate SG-1'

August 22nd, 2006 4:36pm EDT
Stargate SG-1
Cult science fiction series Stargate SG-1 is on the verge of closing at the end of its current 10th season. Bosses at the Sci Fi Channel have chosen not to order further episodes of the show, the longest-running science-fiction series on TV.

The Stargate SG-1 series is based on the 1994 time-travel movie starring James Spader and Kurt Russell. Its 200th episode aired last week. The series' ratings have been in decline since long-running lead Richard Dean Anderson quit the show last year, but it still boasts a strong fan base, with several conventions staged globally every year.
