 "The Simpsons" was a cartoon short utilized in the series "The Tracey Ullman Show" during its run from 1987-1990. The show took on a life of its own in 1989 and satirized a  middle class American lifestyle. The characters of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie have since become cultural phenomenon's and have done something no other television show before or since has accomplished before; become the longest-running American sitcom, the longest-running American animated program, and the longest-running American primetime, scripted television series.
